  1. I think it was a fantastic booking, I thoroughly enjoyed their set, and I’m impressed they managed to keep it completely secret. That said, i don’t think I ever want that to happen ever again. Totally agree about the effect on other stages. I also don’t think Samia was helped by whatever happened before her set, meaning that she had to start late I think the circumstances last year were so specific that it probably won’t happen again. EOTR has a long track record of secret sets, but not that high up on the main stage.
  2. You’ve just made my day.
  3. Thanks for doing this - it must have taken some effort. That said, if the clashes between Jon Hopkins/Explosions in the Sky and Big Thief/Black Country New Road actually happen, I will hold you personally responsible.
  4. His West Holts set looked fairly lively - but i was only watching on telly
  5. My guess is: Decemberists, Big Thief, Phoenix and no idea for Thursday so I’ll go with JAMC too. Would be thrilled with Wunderhorse, Katherine Priddy and Blondshell somewhere on the bill. And hopefully The Wedding Present will turn up like always.
  6. They have a song called ‘They Burned Down Dairy Queen’
  7. I have now realised that the initial reference went completely over my head. I am now somewhat ashamed.
  8. I just don’t think EOTR are capable of a terrible lineup. At worst, the headlines won’t be to someone’s personal taste. Obviously, feel free to remind me of this if i moan tomorrow. To be honest, the best thing they could do would be to announce the food lineup first, and then pretty much everyone would be happy.
  9. If you could just add Personal Trainer and Crumb to this, that would be awesome.
  10. I like some of them, I don’t like some of them, and I’ve never heard of some of them. In other words, a classic EOTR lineup. If this is your final offer, I’m tempted to accept (despite the lack of Phoenix).
  11. This is the first year where I haven’t got a scooby doo who any of the headliners could be. I guess that makes it more exciting, right? Based on who we know is around, I can’t even think of anyone who I’d want to headline. Either way, I’ll still be attending because it’s just a brilliant festival. The less I know beforehand, the better time i seem to have discovering new music. That said, I’ve really enjoyed the new albums from Sprints and Bill Ryder-Jones over the last couple of weeks, so if they could be on the lineup, that would be just lovely.
  12. They posted that their reveal on Thursday would include “all 5 headliners”. The poster looks very convincing, though, so it could be an early version? Sadly, I have to miss this year’s festival. If i could make it, there would be enough there to entertain me, if the leak is accurate. You’d think the final headliner would be Jamie T, based on availability and how much they’ve tried to get him in the past. Biffy seems like a bit of a stretch, in my opinion.
  13. What a great festival. Always my favourite weekend of the year, and this year was no different. The good: The music. It’s a wonderfully curated lineup and there was so much I enjoyed this year. Angel Olsen, Kokoko!, Ezra Furman, Master Peace, Murder Capital, Kara Jackson were highlights, but I could easily mention another 10. Sound quality - particularly at the Garden Stage - was immaculate. Food, as always, was amazing. Rendang from Makatcha, the Mexican Fiesta from Hot P’Tatoes and the breakfast burrito from the Bacon place were especially good. The people - so many lovely random conversations with friendly people. Accessible Camping - the people that organise it and the people camping there are the most wonderful people you could ever share a festival with. Truly a second family for us. The Bad: Talkers - Oh my days. Especially at the Garden Stage. I don’t expect silence during performances, and it was beautiful seeing people meet up who clearly hadn’t seen each other for a while, or (briefly) discussing the performance. However, if you’re facing away from the stage and shouting to make yourself heard over the music, maybe have a think about whether you’re really in the right place. Wasps. There were many. I don’t especially like them. But to be fair to the stripy, pointy bastards, they didn’t attack me or anything - they just tried to share my food and drinks. Some performances, i didn’t particularly enjoy, but that’s on me. I can see from reading through this thread that for everything I thought was bad, there are multiple other festival-goers that thought otherwise. This year, I decided to leave anything I wasn’t feeling and go and find something else. It worked really well. The ugly: Nothing. Seriously. Not even the abundance of cargo shorts. TLDR: Our fifth EOTR, and probably my second favourite so far. We’ve already bought tickets for next year.
  14. For me, I think the ideal scenario is that they play the first four tracks from Nonagon Infinity, followed by The Dripping Tap or Head On/Pill, then I’d happily wander over to the Garden Stage. Like you said, though, it’s a mistake I’ve made multiple times. And i don’t show any sign of learning my lesson. My personal nadir was 2019, when I tried to catch some of The Beths, Girl in Red and Let’s Eat Grandma and ended up with just regrets
  15. It was already my worst clash. I’d pretty much decided on KGLW because I’ve never seen them before, but with it potentially being Ezra’s last show for a good while, I have no idea how I’m going to choose. I may have to leave it up to the day. My plans usually go out of the window once I’m at the festival, anyway.
