Pre-packaged pain au chocolate nicely warm from the tent, a cereal bar and a banana.

Then skin up, have a joint and a beer on way to either manic organic or kedgeree at Goan fish curry.

Works every time.

Old and traveling by coach, so no way I would carry any of this stuff, but have in the past when budget dictated it. I always hated washing up when cooking stuff in a pan, that's a big driver for me, plus tbh the stuff there (as long as you look for it) is just so much nicer.

Actually nice to follow your pallet too, which does vary depending what I'm up to and what else I've eaten or drunk.

In terms of camping stoves, I take one of these.

Very small once packed away so can fit in a rucksack pocket and really kicks out some heat. So much better than those briefcase style ones.

I have bought one of those but not used it yet, are they pretty easy to use? How  much fuel do you need for the festival?

so, going to glasto is a long held dream for me which is finally coming true!

I'm obviously more excited than a kid before Christmas and have duly read as much of this thread as I can, watched every blog, stared at the map for hours, worked spotify into submission etc etc in order to vent my excitement.

the only question that I don't think I've seen asked/answered is about breakfast!

I don't want to buy one every morning and won't always be in the mood for one but....

can anyone recommend a good breakfast which will survive being in a tent for 4 days?

im currently thinking of... bread (obvs), mushrooms (no not that kind!), chorizo, maybe beans. maybe.

any gastronomic advice welcome!

tl:dr

breakfast suggestions please.

Strong Coffee. 2 teaspoons

Hot water. 3rd of a pint

Jack Daniels. 2 Shots

Honey. 1 to 2 teaspoons to taste

Mix all in a suitable container

Possibly in a small room.?

Drink.

I only bring a handful of protein bars with me to the site, so my breakfast usually begins with a little stroll from my tent at Pennards, to grab something from the Park, via the long drops at the top. Don’t start drinking until at least midday.

Stove for porridge / going without / buying something from one of the vendors is the best option.

Individually wrapped cereal bars or brioche etc. are nice but waaaaay too much un-recyclable plastic :(

I normally have flapjacks on waking then head out to manic organic for fruit salad and muesli

You see this is close to the sort of breakfast I have at home and can't bring myself to spend money on at a festival.  I'd rather skip "breakfast" and have a more interesting meal a bit later.  And then another one later on.

Surely individual porridge pots use more waste than a pack of brioche? They don't need to be individually wrapped! I tried giving up plastic to the extent that I don't eat anything even in a plastic bags (plastic free July)...it's pretty much impossible in the current world of packaging and almost sends you loopy

    • They are going to have Blink 182 for sure, early June upto around Werchter weekend I'd say for them. Two of Sweden Rock,  Greenfield and RFP are going to miss out.
    • I've come across a few this weekend saying Deftones aren't big enough for Download.   I would recommend b&b hotel hbf the night before....cheap, comfortable and very decent. Within 10 minutes from the station and a tram stop outside to jump on...all travel is free during the festival time as well with a kombi. Lidl is very good and cheap I can't lie....€6 for a chair with carey handle, €20 with a bag too...you can work that out yourself.   If you camp, get up at 5am and go to the queue....literally don't question it as now I know.     The travel wise part is easy when you get the hang of it and I've never had an easier exit from a festival today tbh. We were camped in the turn left section but past the registration and to get water you have to come right out.   Opening up an exit through he camp at least by Friday morning when everyobe is there would be much better but you csnt walk through general if you're green and sonon.   I think the issue for me probably too is I have never taken like a mutliple litre water too, I've always done a 6 pack water from like poundland lol but you definitely need it. I had one shower that was cold lol   Talking of getting into the front, Volbeat was the only easy one, for Maiden and especially Linkin Park if you weren't in the queue for it by at least the last quarter ot Architects you had no hope....it was shocking. I do like orbit to sit down. I had to decide to sack off Within Temptation too or no chance.   Second stage biggest gripe is the faff of walking all the way round when VIP or whatever it is literally get access to each bit. I did read tbh before going people though RIP/Ring was turning too much the wrong way.   Also as a side note, caught some of Limp Bizkit last night too and they are not headliner but any distance at all. Yes they pull a crowd...they would do with LP finished but on the grand scale its a super weak booking. Stop, start for video recordings all the way through a headline set?, 1hr 15 minutes and you can't play for that time. I'm so glad they were not chosen to headline main.   On another thing, if RIP played it right they'll get GC and Avril to sub/second stage headline on the Blink day.   Toilets and cleanliness is a big plus I will say that.
    • Any of the likes of Keo, Basht. and Cardinals could all fit in here.  Although they’re the sort of bands that could fit many of the stages at Glastonbury
    • Glasto loves a come back act - how about the Rapture?
