2019 Headliners

I'd be surprised if we don't get anything before Christmas. I think we will get one headliner announcement to drum up some extra excitement. I doubt it'll be The Cure as they have tickets to sell, so it'll either be Macca or whoever the 3rd headliner is.

Wouldn't a sold out Glastonbury slot help sales for the Cure?

There's only ever been 4 headliners and 1 legends slot act announced before February.

Well, Cure fans with Glasto tickets might not bother buying them for the Glasgow show if they're announced for G. They might want to hold off on the G announcement for as long as possible.

I feel the appeal of Paul McCartney by the yoof might be overestimated on these boards too.

But Glasto is a festival that tends to attract an older crowd anyway. Not saying the yoof don't go, but it's more skewed towards older people than Reading.

And he's a Beatle!

But the oldies will complain about value for money seriously going downhill. "When I was younger we got half The Who, only get a quarter of The Beatles for your money these days!" (Shakes stick)

Has something happened to Ringo?

Yes yes and yes would be a dream but won't happen .

I'd settle for David Byrne

Tina and Chris played in 2013 and loved it, so they'll recommend it to Byrne if there's a chance, but Davey's not for reformin', having far too much fun on his own isn't he!

    • Was it not Jeff Lynns ELO -  i.e just the singer of ELO singing ELO songs though? which I guess is a solo act?   Not sure if we can call that a band or not
    • I'd say being announced on their own is probably going to be one of those headlining second/sub equivalents. Obviously its not direct size crossover.

    • Went to see David Gray with some friends at Hampton Court Festival on Weds night as a friend had a spare ticket. He was … quite bland. Reminded myself why I haven’t been to see him before! It’s not that it was bad, just not my cup of tea. Hid dancing was an unexpected highlight - that really was bad! 🤣🥴 such a cool setting though and always try to see something there every year as it’s v close to where we live
