2019 Headliners

Definitely expecting a full poster drop in a week or so instead of any individual headliner announcements beforehand - those two headliners are hardly special and nothing much to brag about.

‘Our Saturday night headliner is The Killers! So... yeah’.

Could all this talk about reducing plastic bottles be the ultimate clue to Catfish and the BOTTLEMEN headling. <drops grenade, runs away>

You're on the right train of thought but took a wrong turn.

You need to think deeper. What's inside the bottles? What do you most associate bottles with?

If I were to say

"Pass me the bottle of __________"

What's the first thing that comes into your head?

HOT SAUCE, obviously.

Many types of hot sauce out there, but commonly it's found to be red in colour.

What's Red Hot sauce main ingredient? Chili Peppers

 ?

I mean they could brand The Cure as there return to the farm after so many years and how the secret set was so good, they could say THE KILLERS ARE BACK.

See, I reckon they are just gonna have the Spurs team out, as they are specialist bottlejobs

Normally the headliners mostly get a special one off announcement, but I agree if it’s the ones we think then a poster might be next. Then I’m mostly wrong about these things...

You're right. In fact, I think having specific announcements for The Cure and The Killers would do more harm than good. Releasing the whole thing at one go will give people more to sink their teeth in to rather than focusing solely on the disappointment of the headliners.

There's some parallel universe where Gaga was announced the morning after the Oscars. Jammy bastards.

Yeah, all the buzz about the secret set they did last time would take away from a headline announcement this year. Seems like that was a far more special appearance than a pyramid slot. I loved how they announced foo fighters in 2017, great build up to all the cheese and grain stuff too. I can't see the killers announcement creating as much buzz as that did.

My ideal headline announcement this year would have seen Gaga sporting a pair of tiny denim shorts and a white chin beard at the oscars as a little teaser to where she'd be this summer.

Totally agree, jparx.

And I bet in that parallel universe there's no clashes too.

Speak for yourself. Us ticketless think individual announcements for the Cure and Killers is a fantastic idea.

I would happily wait a week, maybe two, with nothing if we then got a whole poster. Way better than The Cure now, The Killers towards the end of March and the poster first week of April. But I would be very happy with sooner :)

Lot of anti Killers sentiment on this thread, so for balance I fricking love them, thought they were terrific in JP 2017, and can't wait to see them on Pyramid. I also loved Coldplay with my flashing wristband. There. I've said it. Not ashamed in the slightest.

    • Me too.  Reckon they must have more this year.   Not bad is it - ended up paying same price as this year.  It still represents great value for me.  Well, until I check my bank account the Monday after the weekend.
    • Well mayors have more powers to do that sh*t...but they have to make the numbers add up.
    • We'll see. Bristol and Leeds are both massively overdue big public transport investment - 2 of the cities with the worst transport infrastructure per capita in Western Europe. If this works to help support investment projects great and fair play to Burnham.
    • The Bródy Day was his idea because Sziget has always been late when it comes to this kind of concert. They would only organize farewell performances or tribute shows after an artist had passed away. Since Bródy is one of the country's greatest singer-songwriters, they wanted to honor him while he is still alive. (He didn't say it exactly like that, but the man is 80 and has just stopped playing large concerts.) He never understood why anyone would focus exclusively on one generation, especially Gen Z, who have less disposable income, drink less, and are, in his words, "afraid of partying." He explained that in the past, people loved festivals because of the nonstop partying, whereas many younger people today find that experience overwhelming or exhausting. That's one of the reasons why Sziget will introduce more chill zones and sensory-friendly spaces. They also want to attract older generations, who are generally more willing and able to spend money. The Sziget Icons days are aimed at this audience, and in the future they hope to create a more balanced lineup that appeals to people over 35 as well.   It was a long interview. If anything else comes to mind, I'll share it.
