So thinking of female solo artists;

Madonna - new album next yr, likely to have a tour waiting in the wings so dates might be a problem, expensive.

Kate Bush - Picky about what she does, but doesn't mean no.

Swift - apparently not a fan of festivals but I believe has done some, so maybe.

Kylie - bump up from legend slot and find replacement for that which could be easier to fill

Pink - too many days on the trot touring

Gaga - can't see why she would turn it down really. Available as far as we know.

Beyonce - done before so could be a reason for saying no. But will have been 8 yrs ago so a possible.

Dua Lipa - biggest selling female artist this year, a Glastonbury regular. Only one album and too big a step up.

Cher - active again touring US. Finishes in time unless has European dates up her sleeve.

Can't think of anyone else. Of course 50% chance of being female is meaningless really.

I suspect the 50% chance thing was a reference to the gender balance in the population.

Agree. Everyone seems much more willing to accept bad news rather than good.

If a random girl on twitter posted that ‘Fleetwood mac/Daft Punk/insert act people want here’ were playing because her ‘industry bod’ mates said so, almost nobody would take it with anything other than a large punch of salt.

I mean it might be true and she may be right, but believing her isn’t particularly logical at this stage.

Didn’t Gnomi say though that she wasn’t any old random, but was in a band that’s played festivals. Doesn’t make her right of course, and I certainly hope she’s not, but she may have more of an insight than most of us

If she's the daughter of The Cure's bassist as well then she's about as well connected for Glasto '19 as it gets

There’s information from two separate sources, as well as information he’s pulled out of Hyde Park.

It ain’t bad news for some few definitely got my house excited with speculation of who the replacement is, especially as none of us were planning on seeing him

Not technically. eFests heard Paul McCartney was doing Hyde Park, Brave Sir Robin has heard a bunch of names that are supposed to be doing Hyde Park and Paul ain't one. Could've never been booked for BST.

Unlikely I'd say but you could argue he fits in with the vague hints given on Twitter. My thought with Dlyan is if they wanted him, and he wanted to do it, it would have happened already though.

Yeah I'm surprised he's never did it before but fitting with the 2 blokes comment I can't think of many others that would be in a similar vain to Macca (not that it has to).

I still think it's going to be Macca though.

The replacement is Bruce...Dickinson

SCREAM FOR ME, GLASTONBURY!

Let's just book Iron Maiden, let Bruce swear about him hating the bourgeoisie despite being one himself and throw on an hour-and-a-half of top-notch British metal.

You aren't going to get more Greatest Hits than the current Legacy of the Beast tour - lop off Sign of the Cross, The Clansman and For The Greater Good of God, you've pretty much got a tidy 85-90 minute headline set in the vein of Metallica.

They were bloody sensational in Manchester this year too.

She did say in her last tweet “someone she’s already mentioned” so maybe just look back through her tweets and see who she’s mentioned?

I don't think that's what she meant. She said "One I've mentioned isn't confirmed but has been approached", meaning "the act I've mentioned as replacing Paul McCartney isn't confirmed but has been approached".

Just going for the fun of it with the clues of 50% female, surprising booking and may well say no I'm gonna throw ABBA in the mix.

It's a solo artist. She said 50% chance it's a woman because she'd "already said too much" and didn't want to give any more clues.

can't wait for Macca to be confirmed and we can add another person to the "knows someone who works in The Music Industry that has absolutely no clue and is just repeating a rumour" pile, like the dozens, if not hundreds before.

or the 3 headliners to be confirmed and none of them are Macca and the person repeating the rumours turns out to be correct through luck and is still full of shit.

    • Thing is, I'd have said that as well.   But then she inexplicably ended up on the Wilderness lineup and that changes everything. I reckon if that goes well, which it will, then she's very much in the picture.
    • This has probably been discussed a hundred times already on efests but what constitutes a legend? I know some of it is my age but I don't see eurithmics or Duran Duran as legend status. Neil young or nils lofgren then yes and neither of them have overly troubled the charts. Duran Duran and indeed the eurithmics I would put in the 80s category and whilst it would be ok (human league at isle of wight we're fabulous) they just arent in my mind legend status.  Zombies played same festival- i would take that.
    • friendly tonight delayed , pitch draining pretty quick to be fair .... not sure it bodes well for other games with potential fixture backlog
    • Never happen, but an Annie Lennox solo or Eurythmics reunion would make me very happy.
    • Burnham going to go blue labour to ensure he wins makerfield and gets enough nominations from the PLP. How he’d govern is anyone’s guess. Odds on to win anyway so guess we’re not too far away from finding out.
