They played the Other Stage in 1994, on the same day as Oasis and Blur. Incredible lineup.

I suppose there could be a "Special Guests" slot on the Pyramid before the headliner again, or even subs on the Other Stage - at a time when there's usually quite a few clashes going on.

Any smaller stage headliner or Other Stage opener is a no-go for me, and it looks like Pyramid Headliner is too, following today's news.

Another option would perhaps be for them to play an "Special Guests" slot in Shangri-La at the same time as the headliners.

Neil, the info that BMTH are playing the Sunday - is that confirmed as a headliner, or theoretically could they be subbing the stage? Obviously not wanting to get into another 'are BMTH big enough to headline the Other' argument, but is there info to put them in that slot?

she said the same about Florence last year and she was lined up to sub.

and before someone says "but Adele is too big to sub herp de derp de derp", the point is that Emily will more than likely say complimentary things about every artist who she is directly asked about, and is hardly going to say that she doesn't think she's quite ready for it.

I was told by someone in the know in a dream last night. Just don't get lost trying to find W Holts and get on the monorail, as Anthea Turner will leave you stranded between stations.

I know it isn't anything to do with them playing but I have forgotten who the poster was that put me onto All Your Music on Rakuten - my copies of Opiate by Tool and Radiohead's In Rainbows came yesterday from Canada. Posted on the 3rd so was dead quick! And amazingly, they packaged it perfectly so that there wasn't even a minor scuff on the cardboard sleeve.

Amazon use 3x as much packaging and still fuck it up.

So whoever you are, thanks! Sorry I didn't name check you but that was some time ago in this thread and I will never find it. I owe you a cider at Glasto!

For a start I am only 28 years old so when I first started buying music, LP's didnt exist so I don't do it for nostalgia reasons.

I believe personally that vinyl records give better sound than CD's - it is without question at all that they are better than MP3's as they are compressed and you lose some of the information within the recording when compressed into an MP3. 

The main reason I collect vinyl since Christmas is as when I was a kid, I was obsessed with my parent's turntable and I used to love spinning records on it. I remember I bought a 7'' Limp Bizkit single when I was about 14 or so (from the Results May Vary album) on Puke Green vinyl and I was hooked for ages.

When we moved, my parents chucked all their old LP's away along with the TT. I was well sad! Ever since then I have wanted to collect vinyl but never had enough money or space. Recently I have become debt free for the first time in AGES and was gifted a few LPs by a mate before christmas as he knew I liked prog and his dad was having a clear out and I have never looked back.

It is really a matter of opinion which is better vinyl or CD but I much prefer vinyl. Vinyl looks nicer than CD's, and when you get nice artwork with an album its nice to have it as a foot square rather than miniature like you get on CD's. It is an arseache to take care of, yes, but its worth it if you love music. I wouldn't recommend anyone get into vinyl unless they are willing to 'love' their vinyl. Needs regular cleaning and needs to be stored correctly or you fuck your LP's up.

 

PS: I am definitely not a hipster. Please take that back. I am not from Shoreditch and I do not have a bushy beard. Fuck hipster culture!

Regarding LPs. I find the sound is deeper and more real when playing them. And it's more of an occasion than just clicking a couple of buttons on a screen or putting in a CD. It's almost like a ritual in a way. I like the sound, the A and B sides and how the band/act chose these sides, the large art work, the feel of a record. I really do like vinyl.

I am not a hipster and I do not do things to be 'cool'. If people were to lay that accusation at me, then it would be them who have a problem with what I do, not me. Nostalgia definitely plays a part in my love for records too. I love picking up my old Streetsounds Electro albums from the 80s and playing them. Or finding some cool old records from the 60s or 70s in a charity shop.

well said. Pretty much my view on why LP's are better. The word I use to describe the sound is 'happy'. To me the sound sounds fuller and happier. Some bands don't translate well to LP (I have to fuck with the setting on my amp to get the AM Arctic Monkeys album to sound decent and my Guns N' Roses LP sounds HORRIBLE if I forget to turn down the treble as Axl is so high pitched) but the majority do.

Like you, I do love the ritual of spinning a record. Even if the fuckers take cleaning they are still beautiful things. Fuck dust though - that can sod RIGHT off. Static is annoying

It was difficult to get new music on 12'' vinyl when I grew up (in the 90s). Everything in my record shops I used to go to was CD apart from singles, which you could get on 7'' vinyl and I usually never bothered as I still don't like buying singles.

I could have only gotten 2nd hand vinyl, and as Watford had nowhere to buy it.

The 90s was a wasteland for vinyl. The record companies were putting out shite, a lot of pressed from the CD, to try move people from tape and vinyl to CDs, and then to minidisc. And then Napster came along just as people were getting pissed off with the constant format changes and they all got fucked over. Rightly so. 

It was a minefield. I have an Appetite for Destruction from the 90s and its the worst sounding piece of shit I've ever heard.

Theres absolutely no comparison. Vinyl (provided the pressing is good and not a bootleg from a CD etc) is far, far, far superior. Completely different listening experience. 

Although you like Creed don't you? They sound shit on any format.
