Amusingly I got home from work just now to four record shaped parcels waiting for me. First three checked out fine, the fourth - which was supposed to contain a copy of Fleet Foxes' first album instead contained two albums - Christina Aguilera's Stripped and Gwen Stefano's solo effort. Think there might have been a mistake. Need to contact them before the temptation to spin Hollerback Girl becomes too much.

He's posted hints that an R&L NME headliner is 3rd down the Other Stage and has said he believes The 1975 are headlining the NME Stage. I can't see them third down but I imagine Neil has info putting them there, whether it checks out or not. I mean, they're surely bigger than CHVRCHES who are supposedly subbing New Order.

yeah i'd be surprised if they're lower than subbing Other, especially as you say with a band like Chvrches subbing who are much smaller than them. going from fifth on the Pyramid to third on Other when they've gotten huge in those two years doesn't make sense at all. they wouldn't seem out of place headlining Other at this point

The Other Stage has all sorts of fucked up placings all the time. Especially since the year of Bugg's Law (™)

not really... the placings on Other are usually pretty spot on. Jake Bugg may have been a shocking Other headliner but at the time he was big enough for it (or at least the time he was no doubt booked for the position - his star had faded somewhat by the time the festival actually rolled around)

if The 1975 are on Other then no way will they be lower than sub imo

Nah. Weren't Paolo Nutini and Ben Howard subbing it when they were subbing main stages? Didn't Editors play before Lumineers (maybe that was Reading?)

All I'm saying is I'm never really that surprised by where a band appear on the Other Stage. You'd have thought The Hives, Blondie & The Cribs would have got more prominent slots, but they were on real early. The only one that surprises me is BMTH headlining it, but then that's not accounting for Bugg's Law (™): (anyone can headline the Other Stage)

Paolo Nutini and Ben Howard were both below dance/electronic acts who's sets almost require darkness, and have huge live setups. they're hardly gonna put Skrillex and his huge spaceship setup on stage, have it all removed and then have Paolo and his guitar and a mic setup on afterwards are they? also at the time The Lumineers were huge and Editors were/are not. so unless they've got three acts who's sets all benefit from being during the sunset, The 1975 will have no reason to be lower than a sub. they could unarguably be third on the Pyramid now. they could probably even sub it.

Blondie, The Hives and The Cribs don't really count as they've clearly made an effort to have a biggish draw acts on early doors on the Friday after the secret opener. the ordering of everything else is based entirely on size of the acts

Blondie was a scheduling mistake.  They should have had the same slot as in 1999.
