Remember Macca played Earls Court in 2004? It got cheap pair of tickets on Ebay for £18 Thursday night. Next day went to the gig And met ticket seller.Tickets were miles from the stage. Me and mate were separated by steps. I complained that although we had booked a pair my "wife" couldn't sit by me. Upgraded to £75 seats close to stage. Brilliant gig too

From my experience, you're not likely to see much anyway.It's all a bit pot luck really. Last time, I tried to get a cheap ticket (lol cheap...£55 I think it was) but they were obviously the first to sell out, so I had to get a mid price one at £85, where I was sat high up, a little bit further back than the middle, on the side. Concert was fantastic either way.

Ok. Here's a question. Why release the Foos news but be so tight lipped about the other two if they are already signed up as Neil assures us. Could they both be female artists?

The other 2 may be restricted by promoters trying to sell tickets where the foo fighters felt comfortable enough to announce it themselves

Foo Fighters only shows needed to sell out are Edinburgh and Sunderland, far enough away from Glasto for it not to really matter and I'd presume the majority has sold.

I think Blur fit's based on IOW having one as well. I kind of hope Taylor is subbing as I may actually want to see an Other header Sunday for once.

Taylor has sold out her shows though hasn't she?, I do feel if it is her though it'd work better if she was announced along with the rest.

I'd like to think Saturday was Elton but there is a lot of tickets for his shows that still need to sell out, acts much smaller would have sold the Hydo out by now. I think he headlines wherever he plays but wouldn't be seen a wanted option to book by Glasto now maybe. Also if they are glad they Macca when they did, I'd presume it may be a case with Elton's voice gone that they didn't get him and now probably won't.

I also think the foo's "coming out" at the NME awards ceremony after winning best band was a factor.

Gives it that extra little bit of exposure/wow factor (even tho 99% of us knew it was them anyway)

I think Lionel Richie was confirmed the day before Fleetwood Mac were announced for IOW and Foo Fighters in the middle of a multitude of major festival announcements last month.

I wouldn't have thought they are concerned in the slightest about people throwing their tickets back in the pot. Tens of thousands are trying and missing out in every resale. The Pryamid headliners have little effect on ticket sales and demand.

The delay in announcing headliners is almost certainly down to the bands/artists themselves. I would have thought all 3 could have been announced as soon as they have been booked if they wanted to.

So whoever it is this year I would assume has either not announced a tour or shows yet .. Or having trouble selling their existing tour or show.

Announcing a Glastonbury Pryamid headline show will obviously affect the ticket sales of either of the above.

I remember people getting angry about the Stones being announced just before registration closed a couple of years ago, led to a massive in rise in registrations and, I assume, made getting resale tickets harder.

I don't think they hold back individual headliner announcements because of tours etc. foos were probably confirmed recently because they wanted joe public to keep glastonbury in their mind... Before the full lineup drops a couple months later

They like to confirm headliners when they announce everyone else - Kasabian were only ever a rumour until the full lineup was announced last year! They only confirmed Foo Fighters this year and Arcade Fire last year because the bands announced it!! In a way, I like it that way - keep the suspense building!! All other festivals announce acts in order to sell tickets - Glasto have no need to whatsoever, as they sell out in hours, based simply upon the fact it is Glasto!!

And as someone said above, Prince was pretty much pulled out last year because the papers got hold of the info - if it is him this year, then that will be amazing, and it will be well done to Michael and Emily for keeping it quiet! If not, well we've got less than a month to wait to find out who it will be!

They definitely hold back so bands/artists can announce their tours and sell as many tickets as they can. We all know Glastonbury don't pay as well as other festivals so most bands will want their tours and stuff to sell before announcing their playing Glastonbury. Foos had their tour announced months before they were announced

It's just a bit of a wild assumption to think that the remaining headliners are ones that haven't yet announced or sold out their dates because Foos have been announced and the others haven't.

As the line up is being announced in the coming weeks, if one of the headliners hasn't announced a tour yet I can't see them doing so now. They will most likely do what Arctic Monkeys and Kasabian did and use their headline slot as a show off then announce a big tour near the end of the year

I think it's just people wanting the headers to be announced but regardless of whether Glastonbury had bands that other fests need to sell out 1st, this is just plain standard practice for Glastonbury.

Foo's were quite funny in that reveal, they obviously knew everyone was aware they were playing before they announced it.

Not a headliner but I'm hoping Band Of Horses finally come back this year

Of course they do, will be in the contracts.

Just say your promoting blur. You have hyde park tickets to sell and you don't want everyone to be aware of another show. A lot.of people going to glastonbury may buy blur tickets but wouldn't if it was nailed on for them to headline the festival.
