Source on the Inforoo board in the Coachella thread says the headliners for Coachella are Dua Lipa, Frank Ocean and Kendrick Lamar.

Is this where Dua emerges as an option?

Yes. I reckon.

Yes. I disagree with both statements, however the reason is probably the general consensus of their live shows being a major  snoozefest (I agree with that completely).  It's by no means a weak booking, but perhaps rather underwhelming. Somewhat similar to potential bookings of Eminem and GnR. I say somewhat similar because AM are clearly far more current and relevant, but have - unlike the other two - already headlined. All of those would probably leave much to be desired for a big part of the crowd.

If the other two headliners are GNR and Elton they'll draw the biggest of the three headline crowds. I agree they are dogshit live but they'll always be a massive draw.

Just to clarify that was probably poor wording on my part. I just meant the last two albums haven't gone down too well and live shows not much better - And I really like AM, I like last two albums, they're massive! I just think this lounge thing, as much as I like it, doesn't seem sustainable for festival headliner status.

AM are at a similar point to Radiohead, RHCP, Green Day, Coldplay, Foo Fighters, Metallica or Muse, and also Oasis in their later years, in the way that them being past their best won't matter so much as they'll always reach number one and sell out every gig they play, and headline every festival they play. And with maybe the exception of Radiohead, the general consensus is that all those bands are past their best yet they always shift colossal sized units and draw huge crowds at every festival, even if it's mostly normies who are "there for the bangers".

Very strong rumours the headliners and 2nd top of the bill will be:

Friday - Artic Monkeys / Pulp

Saturday - Taylor Swift / Peter Kay

Sunday - Paul McCartney / Blur

That is mad as a box of frogs.

Hats off to whoever put that combination together. The idea that a comedian would appear on the Pyramid at night, let alone before her would be very amusing.

Plus there are other acts you think "err aren't they supposed to be lined up for other years?"

If it's accurate for sure.

Hope Frank does a UK date, hopefully at APE

No it’s so stupidly off I won’t even engage with it.

Fair enough. I stand by it. And if it happens, she’ll rise to the occasion and smash it.

Accurate or not that’s a banging headline trio in 2023. The Americans get all the good stuff.

I think we had a better headlining trio than Coachella this year tbf, outside of Billie obvs. I don't rate Dua that much, she seemed a bit meh at Primavera this year but she deserves a headline slot.

It is, but I don't think she'll be at Glasto, at least not next year. I also didn't know she was that big in America.

Tbh I’m not comparing it to Glastonbury levels but if I was going to a festival and they were the headliners I’d be very happy

If the info is solid and she’s actually touring then yeah.

She was always going to play on the next tour.

The Car didn't actually get to No. 1.

Only because they decided to release it on the same day as T Swift and clearly weren’t bothered about missing out. It outsold Tranqulity Base, and would have reached #1 in any other week bar about 2/3 (Ed, Adele , ABBA) in the last 5 years.

so it doesn’t really say much about their popularity declining.

So for once the line up is "cool" til everyone says the undercard is shite cause it doesnt contain anyone that made music in 1996.

Speaking of  a headliner, Adele started her residency.

Your comments on anyone commenting on Coachella are hilarious. It comes across that you need to protect it.

If Dua is indeed at Coachella then she definitely has to be a strong contender.

Will she have new material by next June? Would be a shame if she’s stepping out on El Pointo supporting an album that’ll be three years old by then.

Nobody cared at the sold out arena tour ( and stadiums ) that she was supporting a 2 year old album. If Dua is there in April it could be similar to Harry and its the launch of album 3. So maybe 2 or 3 new songs mixed into a set similar to the tour she just did plus guests.

The sold out arena tour that was part of the Future Nostalgia tour? The one that was meant to coincide with the album’s launch but was heavily delayed due to a global pandemic? That one?

    • Not sure what this means for 2027 but it looks like Holt Farm's website and email are both now inactive and unavailable.   It'll be a shame if they don't operate for 2027 as it was an excellent alternative to the other off-site offerings.   Fingers crossed they're just enjoying their downtime 🤞
    • Deftones, Blink, Muse?   Deftones as the next bump up makes all the sense, Blink as the "band that has never played before" and round out with Muse as its been a long time since they headlined and they have a new album coming which seems on the heavier side from the singles so far.   I could see Muse do their own tour to be fair, maybe MCR in their place? Could also see Deftones switched out for Slipknot/SOAD depending on who is about.
    • I have no issue with the Primavera crowd in most respects. They’re always friendly, respectful and no hint that there could be trouble at any point.   However…the talking is horrific here. The xx was pretty much ruined for me due to people having conversations with their mates the whole way through. Noticed it from all different nationalities across the weekend…English, Irish, Spanish etc. There seems to be no understanding of the nuances of when it’s okay to talk and when it isn’t. And obviously the sound being quiet at a lot of spots on the main stages exacerbates the issue. That alone has made me reconsider whether I will be coming back, it would probably take a lineup as good as this year (unlikely)
