Secret sets 2022

I know it’s a bit early for us to have any proper idea of who they’re gonna be this year, but what with us already having an Arctic Monkeys rumour, as well as info Florence turned down the opportunity to do a Park secret set, thought we might as well have a dedicated thread for this.

So, who do we think/want?

Jack White’s tour dates are pretty convenient, as well as him having done similar before and seemingly liking the place. Wouldn’t at all surprise me to see him do a Park or John Peel secret set, which would probably be better suited for his new material rather than being billed high up and having everybody wondering what the fuck is going on.

Jack White is a good shout actually - he's in the country and has previous (guested with The Last Shadow Puppets when they did a secret set back in the day).

Arcade Fire is unlikely but would please me immensely.

Arcade fire would be epic, although seems unlikely.

Jack White would be a good fit but may also make the full line up yet.

And after Vampire Weekend did one despite already being on the pyramid line up, it could be anyone.

The fact that Glasto has the ability to pull in the likes of Foals, Killers etc. for a secret set is just nuts to me as a first timer.

I'd sell my soul for it to be AM but I think if it were between them and The 1975 the latter would be more likely.

I think both bands are in a similar position of needing to kickstart their UK popularity again (IK AM are and always will be massively popular but they've somewhat sunk into the shadows). Whichever one does it headlines in 2023 imo.

Was vampire weekend a secret set? I thought they were on the line-up twice (or was there a secret 3rd set)?

Ahead of the 2017 festival there were a lot of rumours about Arcade Fire. They'd just realeased Everything Now and, like now, were doing all sorts of special gigs, including that one in a carpark at Primavera. (https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/newsbeat-40129456). It seemed to make a lot of sense and it had been three years since they headlined.

Anyway it didn't happen.

    • Tell me more. Last Latitude we went to was '21 - my son was young & had a wagon so we snuck good beers in that way. I remember there being some Brooklyn IPA on sale which was tolerable - are you saying they don't sell anything other than Carlsberg now?! 😳
    • Tonight was a disgrace. There wasn't *that* much rain, and it wasn’t *that* windy. A festival of this size should be able to withstand some adverse weather without it bringing the whole circus to a standstill. And if it is true that part of a speaker on the Revolut stage fell…   As for the communication - announcing Massive Attack were playing at 12:30 and then nothing for over an hour while people waited in the rain. It’s laughable it really is.   If I said I’ll never come back again I’d be lying. The shambles of Barcelona 2022 and the disgrace of Madrid 2023 didn’t stop me, so this probably won’t either.   This festival gets so much wrong, but it is always saved by having such killer line-ups. It’s just a shame it treats the fans/customers/consumers like animals. Compare it to somewhere like Glastonbury and it’s worlds apart.
