This is my purpose in life. It's hard to get everyone excited in this weird limbo point...The penny hasn't dropped for them that we're going to Glasto and just how exciting that is
My first ever festival - was 17 and with a big group of 'mates' (yanno the type from school you'd hang out with but not actually really get on with and haven't seen or heard from since you left).
My buddy Dan and I had found a mutual amusement for moshing and just generally being an idiot.
Cue Kasabian. First proper headline set. Well out of our depth in the pits and it opens up in front of us to reveal one foolish soul trying to pump everyone up. He was topless, drenched in sweat, swearing at everyone practically frothing from the mouth. Then the chorus of Fire kicks in and BAM. Spear tackled. Not once. Twice. At the same time.
One got the legs the other got his torso and he cartwheeled well enough to get to the olympics.
We still talk about it to this day and it is the funniest shit I've ever seen and completely hooked me on festivals.
Yeah I'm in agreement with you on this. RHCP and Green Day don't tour as much as Foos because they don't have to and don't want to. Foos do/have done because they love going round the globe year on year.
If @Matt42 is arguing that they're not the type of booking Glasto are likely to make I think that's totally baseless. Not every headline set is meant to be a 'leg-up'
They were awesome with Tom and just as awesome without in my opinion! Serge may not have as much of an anthemic voice but he brings so much more energy as a front man it makes up for it. Would happily take a set from them anyday!
True you're right they don't do it very frequently, got myself confused as when I saw them at Truck they played Olympic Airways, RSP, Hummer and Two Steps so felt like a lot of Antidotes for a set.
They have such a range of songs that sound mega live it wouldn't really make much difference to a set if they were missed off.
Expecting a big friday night!
It's my friends first ever festival! All of ours first glasto. Praying for good weather for him (and the rest of us).
He's never had a good camping experience - I distinctly remember all of our DofE camping weekends being horrendously wet and his tent leaking. Also we did camping for a week on NCS and again it chucked it down and he was pretty unhappy about it.
I love a festival and camping no matter the weather and have done since I was a kid. Seeing the thread of people who didn't enjoy glasto has got me a tad concerned I'll have a similar story after June...
