I realised this week that Bat out of Hell is basically a copy of the Springsteen song Thunder Road

Nah. It's certainly not close enough to be a copy.

The whole album does reek of Born to Run (the album) but I would say that's down to the Roy Bittan connection. He's the MVP on both albums. If Loaf had someone else on keys, it would bear minimal resemblance.

Suppose that depends on your definition of ‘enjoyable’. More simple hook-laden songs? Sure. But IMO Dog Man Star is one of the best albums of the 90’s that never gets the dues it deserves. Should’ve made them huge but by then people were already too deep in to the larger lad anthems of Oasis so it fell on its arse.

So wish I could upvote this. I absolutely love that album.

So the controversial opinions thread has just become middle aged blokes talking about whether Top Gear's Greatest Hits or Now That's What I Call Clarkson is the best compilation of power ballads?

We get frozen out of every other fucking thread in this place by millennial hipsters. Piss off and let me enjoy my dad rock 😄

There were only so many controversial opinions to be had before it would become ‘Your music opinions’.

Thin Lizzy - The Boys Are Back In Town is the greatest song of all time. I will not be moved on this. I actually follow a twitter account that just tweets the lyrics so I'm reminded of this every couple of hours. I haven't brought this up earlier in the thread as I don't view it as controversial but after seeing some of the opinions round here maybe the truth is controversial.

Hard agree. Very few songs that make me want to just flip a table and punch the air like this one. I won’t go on a night out without this belter being played during pre-drinks to get me pumped.

Yeah, most of the thread is ‘here is a list of bands I don’t like’.

Downvotes are back on now so any real controversial opinions are probably being kept at bay for fear of a scorning.

Plus, most people on here seem pretty like-minded and reasonable when it comes to music so I doubt there are too many ridiculous opinions...
