It did. And yeah they were an exclusive there.

We ended up with Metallica being announced after the resale so no one could buy tickets to see them, and also they didn’t do the “By Request” show that they were doing at Sonisphere. I can’t remember if the eFests collective decided whether either of those things were reasons for getting around the exclusivity or not.

But still, it doesn’t mean that any exclusive claim is now bollocks. Ken19 said ages ago that the Hellfest exclusive is why NIN aren’t at Primavera this year.

Yeah I seem to remember hearing (the rumours?) that Sonisphere had to hit a certain sales threshold before they could be announced elsewhere. I'm also pretty sure Faith No More had a similar setup when they headlined the NME at Reading a while back.

From what I remember about the Metallica / Sonisphere exclusive thing, Sonisphere put out a statement saying words to the effect of "Yes, they were exclusive but the opportunity for them to headline Glastonbury came up and we decided we couldn't stand in the way of that".

A bit of a bogus statement really given that we believe Metallica had already been booked to headline the Other Stage, before Sonisphere made the exclusive claim, and then got bumped up to the Pyramid.

the stage option w\as all about where there was a space that needed filling, glasto were hoping to have prince for Saturday pyramid, then they didn't have him, so moved Metallica to pyramid.

Kenny’s Milano concert on the Thursday must be why he couldn’t do the Friday at Glastonbury. I was down to my very last hope for Kendrick so this is wonderful news and one hell of a booking for Glastonbury if he is indeed booked. I’m guessing it was because they were able to hold out while other festivals couldn’t.

I agree with whoever said Simz could join him for a song on the Saturday. That would be massive for her and fantastic to watch.

    • I was hoping that they would just do a tour like they were set to in 2020, rather than having Download as their UK appearance. If they are at DL, I would be surprised to see them headline. I think they sub under Deftones or SOAD
    • well, we might know by the end of next month if they drop the lineup early again
    • I'm definitely not camping 🙂.  My 17 year old Daughter and her friends are there 3 days and commuting back to Sheffield each day as didn't want to camp .  I am taking and picking up the Saturday so thought I may as well get a ticket as love Fontaines DC - need to do a lot of research on the other acts though to fill my day.    I walked through the camp site other year the day Arctic Monkeys played and it was like a War Zone.  My Son has camped a couple of times but didn't fancy my Daughter staying over.
    • Not at all impressed with Polanski saying "noone should be barred from public life" wrt the Tory neo-nazi. I really don't think "no nazis in politics" should be an excessive standard.
