The timing, right after the England win is funny.

'Quick let's piggyback off the England football win....'

I can't see them not allowing these things to happen now, when the data looks how it looks.

I'd love to believe them mate. I really hope you're right!

Is this anything to do with Benitez getting the Everton job?

If so, I don't blame you. 😄

😂😂 you know what I'm pretty happy with it! Been a weird few years with managers but he has a good history!

It does seem to have angered some of the liverpool obsessed lot though!

I'm a Liverpool fan and still love Benitez.

Might be something to do with calling you lot a "small team"?

Roughly half accelerated, half decelerated. Hopefully this is the start of a turnaround? I'm not holding my breath though:

Surely everyone in Manchester has had it by now?

Haha its a bit mental and if you'd said to me 15 years ago that he'd become our manager I'd have laughed you out the building, but with the alternatives (martinez, Potter etc) he's a decorated manager and seems to be very dedicated. I've never been as bothered about liverpool as others so I'm up for giving him a chance!

My wife received a message today about needing to isolate for 9 days as she has come into contact with someone with Corona. She has not used the app/QR/scanner thing for ages, and the only places we've been in 2 weeks are a massive park and a swimming baths (had the entire family pool to ourselves and changing rooms were dead). How might this have flagged up without her checking into places? I'm not too clued up on how the system works.

She's a teacher who takes 2 lateral flow tests a week.

You don't have to check into places for it to ping you. If the Bluetooth and contact tracing is on then it can still pick up exposures.

So many people in this thread seem to have been pinged lately or know someone who has. Seems pretty rife at the moment!

Fake SAGE upset

I know we have to caveat this with a lag, but how is this not 'very promising'?Screenshot_20210704-095855_Twitter.jpg

And also we're still continuing the vaccine rollout and certainly not giving up on it

How negative and pessimistic can they be? If there was genuine concern there would be far more scientific voices speaking out now than just her and indie sage

Reasonable!

Prof Adam Finn, from the government’s Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI). He told Sky News’s Trevor Phillips on Sunday programme:

Well, on a personal level I shall certainly be continuing to wear a mask if I’ve got any symptoms or if I’m in an enclosed space with lots of other people for a prolonged period of time, indefinitely in fact …

I think, as paediatricians, we learned that we can avoid massive problems with children getting sick in the winter by doing these kind of measures.

We simply didn’t see the epidemics of respiratory viruses last winter that we’ve seen every year throughout my career. So I actually now completely understand it, whereas I was puzzled before when I saw Asian people on the tube wearing masks in the pre-pandemic era.

So I think mask-wearing is obviously something we’ve learned is extremely valuable to do under certain circumstances. That doesn’t mean I’ll wear a mask all the time but it does mean I will some of the time.

Yeah completely reasonable, personally I'd wear one in a shop but probably not a restaraunt or somewhere like that, probably not if I'm back gigging either - I do worry there will be a culture war around it all now when I think everyone is perfectly entitled to do what makes makes feel comfortable, for example I think my mum would want to keep it on

How on earth could anyone say there is nothing promising in the data? What about deaths remaining very low and hospitalisations too for starters.

I don’t know how many times I have to say it but it’s projection. She’s got a doomsayer view of the world and will always look at the negatives. It’s always worst case scenario. She’s probably someone with a lot of reopening anxiety herself so she’s pushing back on it.
