unfortunately we aren't all robots and do have emotions behind the keyboards .... and yes its just the internet .... but its still worth thinking about things before you hit that red arrow

I don't think that was Matt's point. He's saying that Elbow as a sub is a suggestion from people who haven't kept up with contemporary music and expect the festival to book the same stuff as a decade ago. When really there are so many new, exciting and contemporary acts that could fill the slot.

I get what you’re saying, but this is a Festival that very often books the same stuff as a decade ago, and acts that go much further back than that. I don’t think Elbow would be their first choice as sub in 2020 but if other options don’t come off they might get it. They have a history with the festival, they’ll break up the crowd before Swift and let’s face it, they’ll do it for a Crate of IPA. Given the overload of Arena/Stadium acts elsewhere and that one of the biggest Contemporary Acts in the world is on straight after, it might just make sense.

Given up on them being opposite Macca, at last?

Nope I’m now thinking they’ll sub Macca then do High Violet in full opposite him.

And then a set of Neutral Milk Hotel covers on the Hell Stage at 3am.

@Matt42's enthusiasm is a thing to behold. I can't fault that on any level.

I've certainly had a difference of opinion with him, my personal gripe being the discussion of things in absolute terms (also, sort your gold membership out you tight bastard ). But I'd certainly stand the lad a cider, as I would most people on here. And I'd like to think I've managed to get this far without mortally offending too many people.

There was always a rule of thumb that new posters would be given a reasonable amount of leeway before getting treated with the same level of contempt as the regulars do to each other, although sadly that does seem to have gone by the wayside a wee bit.

If I’ve crossed the line with Matt then I apologise here and now.

However some of his previous comments, especially around younger people versus older, have needed to be challenged.

You've clearly got a chip on your shoulder about that, but you should really move on, because the conversation has.

Elbow, Noel Gallagher and The National forming an impenetrable Grey Barrier between the party at the headliners and the rest of the day's frivolities. The Great Wall of Dadrock.

Anyone fancy chatting about potential subs again? It's like a kebab house at 3am in here, half want to profess their love, the other want to call everyone out. Just think, in a matter of months we'll all be in the farm in glorious sunshine, cider in hand about to watch something incredible on stage, or coldplay

    • Tonight was a disgrace. There wasn't *that* much rain, and it wasn’t *that* windy. A festival of this size should be able to withstand some adverse weather without it bringing the whole circus to a standstill. And if it is true that part of a speaker on the Revolut stage fell…   As for the communication - announcing Massive Attack were playing at 12:30 and then nothing for over an hour while people waited in the rain. It’s laughable it really is.   If I said I’ll never come back again I’d be lying. The shambles of Barcelona 2022 and the disgrace of Madrid 2023 didn’t stop me, so this probably won’t either.   This festival gets so much wrong, but it is always saved by having such killer line-ups. It’s just a shame it treats the fans/customers/consumers like animals. Compare it to somewhere like Glastonbury and it’s worlds apart.
    • Yeah, I admit that a small part of me felt relieved when they announced that MA are canceled.. But on the positive side- got to see Florence Road afterall, and they were great
    • Glad I could take the €3 bus to Playa Catalunya! Hope y'all warm and dry up.
