Ey this album’s pretty damn good isn’t it? Usually not a huge fan of the introduction of more synths but it works really well here and is a welcome change up in sound for Foals. In Degrees is a total ass shaker. Really hoping they show up at the festival now.

It all fit really well last night. 

Just one guy in the crowd wasn't too comfortable being near but managed to move away later. (Then also see him start a fight in the mosh made me feel my gut instinct was right about him).

Really enjoyed it, managed to surprise my partner who was gobsmacked and had an amazing time.

They'd do very well on the farm, but with such a huge crowd, can't see the energy being similar unless it was in JP.

EartH, interesting venue. Decent size, but a weird stone floor choice. Bit of a chokepoint exiting the venue, ended up grabbing another pint and just waiting it out. (maybe that's their plan). 

Also they were filiming very guerilla style, saw a go-pro on a stick and old style hand-held (porno style) camcorder. It's probably just promo material for socials I'd imagine.

Also I think Black Gold is back to stay.

Loving this album. I'll give it a few more spins over the weekend but I'm really impressed so far. 

As others have said, In Degrees stands out so far - sounded great last night too.

They are definitely more suited in smaller venues as the whole crowd really gets involved, something that is lost on the bigger stages. For me last time I saw them at MEN Manchester it was strange as only seen them at academy/apollo and whilst they did a decent job (lasers at a Foals gig) they still need to work on the transition, as I don't think it's there quite yet IMO.

Absolutely loved the gig at Manchester Gorilla gig and do think the new songs sound fantastic live, so it will be interesting to see how they progress in the next year

Great album. We'll see what happens with part 2 in the autumn but they've already proven the '2 albums is just gonna dilute both' critics wrong IMO. That run of White Onions > In Degrees > Syrups > On The Luna in particular is brilliant stuff.

Walked into EartH last night and saw that they sold Estrella on tap, at that moment I knew it was going to be incredible. It was.

 

Album is very good too. Really do hope they play the farm

Aye I was very skeptical that they could pull it off but if part two is as good as this and not just the leftovers like is so often the case with two albums recorded at once then they’ve really knocked it out of the park. This new one is everything What Went Down should’ve been to cement them as a major festival headliner.

Yeah, definitely. Worth adding that Yannis said part 1 was vibey (or some similar word, can't remember) and part 2 is bangers. Hopefully that indicates a conscious style split and not just the leftovers on part 2.

Couldn't decide if the guy with the go-pro on a stick was just a punter or not.

Haven't been much of a fan since Antidotes and Total Life Forever (still enjoyed them live but didn't think any of the following records stood up to those) but have to say this is a huge return to form for me. Genuinely surprised at how good it is.

Too early to say, but could be their best album.

Wasn't expecting to like it, found the singles very mediocre, however in the context of the album I think it's awesome. Really like it. Will be going back to it a lot I expect.

Album is great, almost regretting not getting that signed Vinyl, but have pre-ordered too many albums in the past that have just been disappointing, that I now need to give it a listen before committing to the purchase.

One thing that I feel came across Live last night was the math rock influence. Their guitar riffs took me back to the Antidote days, I was like, oh they're actually doing this now? It really feels like they've taken a step back to where they began and have managed to integrate that into their modern sound which has a refreshing feel. They definitely seem to have found something that works for them & they are comfortable with. 

Also hope they start their new tour shows with an extended Surf Pt. 1. Feels like a great opener
