My top 2, the rest of the rank is in there :)

The Beths is up there for me, love that album.  Also very good live!

Right, decision made.

Rolling Blackouts is my AOTY.  An album I've listened to repeatedly and enjoyed every time.  No songs on there I want to skip.  Scrolling through stuff to listen to it's one I always hover over, never just completely bypass. Also sounded great live. Done.

1. Hope Downs - Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever

2. Future Me Hates Me - The Beths

3. Illusion of Perfection - Spencer Brown

4. Honey - Robyn

5. Build A Tower - The Slow Readers Club

I'm pleased to now know what the official abbreviation of The 1975 is. No wonder the cool kids blanked me when I called them The Nineteens.

The 75 it is!

@Mash011 are you aware of this running rampant on your watch?

it's just '75' if you're gonna shorten it, not 'the 75'

'Dance Music' by Mastersystem was an incredible debut.. just a shame it'll be the final album too given Scott Hutchison's untimely death.

Autechre - NTS Sessions 1-4

Low - Double Negative

Robyn - Honey

Julia Holter - Aviary

Hen Ogledd - Mogic

Gwenno - Le Kov

Idris Ackamoor & the Pyramids - An Angel Fell

DJ Koze - Knock Knock

Not nearly enough love for Young Father's Cocoa Sugar in this thread.. it's a masterpiece!

Agreed. I'm still finalising my list but it's definitely going to be right up there.

Love this set. Absolutely superb. It's aregular spin at Mardy Mansions, and one I'd forgotten about when picking my albums of the year. Nice one. Might have it down as 'Box Set of the Year' as it goes.

So in no particular order, although Yves Tumor and Tirzah are probably my interchangeable faves from the year.

  1. Lonnie Holley - MITH
  2. Tirzah - Devontion
  3. Let's Eat Grandma - I'm All Ears
  4. Idles - Joy as an Act of Resistance
  5. Yves Tumor - Safe in the Hands of Love
  6. Octavian - SPACEMAN
  7. Pusha T - Daytona
  8. DJ Koze - Knock, Knock
  9. Mitski - Be the Cowboy
  10. Camp Cope - How to Socialise and Make Friends

Narrowly missing out were Shame, Rival Consoles, Throwing Snow, Kids See Ghosts, Earl Sweatshirt, Oneohthrix Point Never, Snail Mail...

For a slightly more conclusive list;

Against All Logic - (2012-2017)
Jon Hopkins - Singularity
Leon Vynehall - Nothing is Still
Beach House - 7
Nils Frahm - All Melody

Props to Arctic Monkeys for making their best album ever, and Jorja Smith for some of the best singles of the year.

Also a big fan, it was a close contest, I'll probably change my mind again soon

Vynehall record worth a shot then? Heard it's quite change of tone for him.
