Albums of the Year 2018

Every few weeks I sit down and start listening to K Wash's Heaven And Earth and think "fucking hell I bet this is really good if you don't keep losing focus and not really getting it". I loved Harmony of Difference and The Epic. In particular The Epic just picks me up and takes me away with it so effortlessly, which is rare for such a long album. Like Have One On Me is one of my favourite albums OAT but when I have a HOOM session I gotta prep for it, plan it way in advance, proper fucking sit down, get out the lyric sheet, follow the music along and make sure I'm fully giving myself to it. The Epic needs none of that shit, I can just stick it on any time anywhere and that's me in jazz land for over 2 hours whether I want it or not. Really infuriating that Heaven And Earth won't let me love it like that

IDLES - Joy As An Act Of Resistance

Parquet Courts - Wide Awake!

Hinds - I Don’t Run

Young Fathers - Cocoa Sugar

Big Red Machine -  Big Red Machine

Car Seat Headrest - Twin Fantasy

Death Grips - Year Of The Snitch

White Denim - Performance

The Voidz - Virtue

Let’s Eat Grandma - I’m All Ears

Camp Cope - How to Socialise & Make Friends

Beach House - 7

A solid dozen with my top 4 taking it in turns to get hammered on rotation and IDLES just about pipping Parquet Courts for my AOTY. Enjoyed the new Travis Scott, Confidence Man and Shame but never really revisited them after first few rounds.

The Idris Ackamoor record is similar, better, and a lot shorter tbh.
