Reports from the Fugees first reunion gig

https://www.stereogum.com/2161636/last-nights-fugees-reunion-started-three-hours-late-and-phones-werent-allowed/news/

Doors opened at 6, they got on at 10 (lol) and it lasted 45 mins

I’m surprised that they did a gig so soon, last I heard Wyclef Jean was gone till November.

I didn't realise Frusciante had rejoined!

The idea of whether deciding not to see a band because you've seen them at their best is something that's been discussed elsewhere, but I think it's particularly valid with the Chilis. When they're great they're on fire, but when they're bad they are baaaaad. And I've seen both. Not sure it's a gamble worth taking!

I'm surprised the Peppers haven't been #metoo yet, they did loads of scummy shit back in the 90s apparently.

I'm jaded by them myself after so many bad shows but I was given free tixs on the last tour so I went anyway. I was talking to a couple of girls I didn't know who were really excited to see "rock legends" as they kept saying and they talked about how much they love their music and we talked about their songs which actually lightened me up to see it that way and enjoy the show more rather than waiting for them to be shit just so I can call them shit. Maybe being postive actually works.

Tbf, for whatever reason, pre-00’s musicians seem to have been given a huge pass when it comes to their shitty behaviour and ‘rock star antics’ of the past, despite a lot of it being quite heavily detailed in the media and their own braggy biographies. Maybe a lot of it being with ‘groupies’ has something to do with it? I’m not sure.

Just that woke cancel culture doesn't really exist in the way that some people think it does.

The thing I've always heard about them was they had a thing for underage girls rather than that type of stuff.

Next time you have a go at somebody about bands being shit or festivals not being worth the money etc, I want you to remember that you very much considered paying £80+ to see a glorified busker with his loop pedal, and a fucking shite one at that.

This was so funny

I'm out of upvotes for today but that's a big like from me!

    • Elastica posted last night teasing a return, wonder where they would play if they reformed?
    • I agree but anyone under Rodrigo would be a sub in reality, that day would sell out in under an hour whoever is subbing, in which case Wolf Alice would make a lot of sense   The more unrealistic part of the scenario at this point is Rodrigo headlining
    • All you can say is...     If he couldn't convince nations that really would've benefitted from the short-term hit of an up-front £50mil payment by this time next year, what hope did he have?   Guess we'll now just have to monitor and see if this could derail Infantino's plans to be re-elected FIFA President next year.
    • Spider-Man: Brand New Day   Highlight was a bloke reacting to the post-credit scene by going "Holy f**k it's Tobey Maguire!" despite the scene having no reference to him at all. Which made my close-to-full screening of the film laugh a lot.   Film was pretty good. It was interesting as much as an exploration of the ramifications of the end of No Way Home and being about isolationism and male loneliness, which I thought it actually did quite well. Though I do ponder if I liked it as much as the other 3 Tom Holland Spider-Man movies. Sadie Sink was good tbf, while I also liked Jon Bernthal as Punisher, enough that I might go watch his Disney+ shows.   Seem to have had a Marvel kick recently having also watched Thunderbolts and Shang-Chi, both of which I thought were pretty good.
    • Wolf Alice won't get headliner for Reading either, they will sub if they play, that is where their level has stopped I feel. Both TFG and Skyvip for the big shows this year was just a stretch too far. Every headliner this year is bigger than them too I'd say.   Agree with Capaldi I don't think Yungblud will be at Reading. I would guess Bludfest 3 or Download.
