There’s nothing to say Stormzy is being paid any less than any other headline artist is.

There is no way he will be paid as much as Foos/Macca/other major established headliners.

Not in a normal festival setting, that’s correct but as I pointed out, there’s nothing to say he’s playing Glastonbury for any less than any other headline artist. Every artist already takes a cut in their fee so the idea that an artist might agree to a further reduced fee is questionable at best.

I think its more that he is new to it all which is what i am getting at, this is his first time at glasto and i doubt his management really would be sure what the rate is if you get what I mean. He definitely wouldn’t be expensive in the first place vs Macca so if they cut a percentage he’d be cheap still

Ya can’t just say “they should pay more for Fleetwood Mac/Madonna/etc.”. It’s a festival that has a pretty low set-fee for headliners because of all the other things it has to take into account. Using the apparent extra they forked our for the Stones doesn’t work either, because I’d guess that the band still compromised to take that fee from Glastonbury - not something every act will be willing to do.

Why don’t Y’ALL pony up and see Fleetwood Mac at their own show huh?

He’s not managed by Del Boy and Rodney, he’s an international star. He’s played numerous festivals around the world, including Glastonbury several times, and his management will get everything they can for him, so the idea he’ll be on the cheap is wrong. As I mentioned, every Glastonbury act takes a cut in their fee, so it’s highly unlikely any of them go further than that.

In addition, if any act was likely to do it on the “cheap”, it would surely be Macca. He hardly needs the money, is an established act, is likely to have headline sets wherever he goes, has history with the festival and had been very insistent and keen on playing.

Ok I'm gunna do the math though. We know that some acts DO get paid more. So for the sake of math and because I have no concept of why the ACTUAL fees are, I'm going to say the standard fee is $5 for a headliner. They know not everyone is going to play for $5 though... and they've really got $20.

So stormzy takes the $5 because hes thrilled to get the spot. The Cure take the $5 because idk I know nothing about the Cure's motives tbh.  Now the Eavii somehow got $10 left for Macca. But shit Macca dropped out.

Fleetwood Mac said they'd do it for $20 but thats impossible. Well tell them we'll pay them $15 and coldplay can play for free next year.

Bing bam boom. And if you got through that without questioning my mental state, *shrug*.

Egg on YOUR face! They're doing a show here in April and by that time the Glasto poster will be released and if they're not headlining I WILL pony up to see their show!

:D

Honestly nobody should want Fleetwood Mac anyway. The watermarked backdrop images they’re too tight to pay for will be too distracting.

Fleetwood Mac would be a big result, even if it is this current lesser version. Not gonna put any faith in some random from FB, but their tour dates line up at least, and they’re certainly make the top of the lineup look a lot stronger than most of the other names being mentioned.

The only way it can be them is - A - Bare faced lie from Emily or B - Macca was booked, dropped out towards the very end of 2018.. they made an attempt for Fleetwood Mac again and the offer was accepted.

Saying they weren't booked back in October wouldn't make her a liar, more likely (if it is them) is that they've accepted later on after their Wembley shows have sold.

I'm also hoping for FM as it'll allow me to sell my Wembley ticket. The vibe will be much, much better at Glastonbury.

Cos I want them to headline I'm probably hearing into things more than I otherwise would...but Brandon Flowers from The Killers told Zane Lowe on Beats 1 recently when he asked about 2019 shows:

"Our booking agent's getting a few offers and I'm sure we'll hit a couple of 'em."

Bit of an awkward laugh first. Fully aware I am clutching at straws but so are all of us so just passin' it on...

    • If you had to come through the fence after coming down the hill if you weren’t already down the hill then you were probably in general. From there the blocks of toilets, showers and water points aren't far at all and to your right is aldi. I know of the lake but apparently it fills up super quick and is noisy and loads of bugs....I got bitten as it was lol. But I joined a solo camp WhatsApp group so followed them.

    • They are going to have Blink 182 for sure, early June upto around Werchter weekend I'd say for them. Two of Sweden Rock,  Greenfield and RFP are going to miss out.
    • I've come across a few this weekend saying Deftones aren't big enough for Download.   I would recommend b&b hotel hbf the night before....cheap, comfortable and very decent. Within 10 minutes from the station and a tram stop outside to jump on...all travel is free during the festival time as well with a kombi. Lidl is very good and cheap I can't lie....€6 for a chair with carey handle, €20 with a bag too...you can work that out yourself.   If you camp, get up at 5am and go to the queue....literally don't question it as now I know.     The travel wise part is easy when you get the hang of it and I've never had an easier exit from a festival today tbh. We were camped in the turn left section but past the registration and to get water you have to come right out.   Opening up an exit through he camp at least by Friday morning when everyobe is there would be much better but you csnt walk through general if you're green and sonon.   I think the issue for me probably too is I have never taken like a mutliple litre water too, I've always done a 6 pack water from like poundland lol but you definitely need it. I had one shower that was cold lol   Talking of getting into the front, Volbeat was the only easy one, for Maiden and especially Linkin Park if you weren't in the queue for it by at least the last quarter ot Architects you had no hope....it was shocking. I do like orbit to sit down. I had to decide to sack off Within Temptation too or no chance.   Second stage biggest gripe is the faff of walking all the way round when VIP or whatever it is literally get access to each bit. I did read tbh before going people though RIP/Ring was turning too much the wrong way.   Also as a side note, caught some of Limp Bizkit last night too and they are not headliner but any distance at all. Yes they pull a crowd...they would do with LP finished but on the grand scale its a super weak booking. Stop, start for video recordings all the way through a headline set?, 1hr 15 minutes and you can't play for that time. I'm so glad they were not chosen to headline main.   On another thing, if RIP played it right they'll get GC and Avril to sub/second stage headline on the Blink day.   Toilets and cleanliness is a big plus I will say that.
