Chic would be such a better booking than Tame Impala and the Strokes.

Would love to See Nile and hitmaker in person

Fairly sure Chic would turn up at your house if you let Rodgers go on long enough about how he wrote every song ever. I’m fairly sure he’d turn up at your house anyway, he’s played every other venue

He didn't do Like A Hurricane last time so he's still owe us.

Come to think of it, he didn't do it when I saw him either. Or Cortez The Killer!

We can't have it though, imagine the middle aged anoraks it'd attract next year if the festival gets a rep as the ones who had The Cure and Neil Young in the 2019. Efests would start to look like an accurate cross section of the demographic.

He did Like A Hurricane when I saw him, but not Cortez. I'll shamefully admit I don't like Cortez much, in fact I think 'Like An Inca' is better and very under rated

Have we completely ruled out the chance of a return from Neil Young?

In the country the following week, as far as I can tell isn't exclusive to pseudo-BST, has been 10 years since he last did it, and above all would be an infinitely better option than The Strokes.

Someone a few (dozen, possibly hundred) pages back suggested Young + Dylan, which certainly would match the 'couple of blokes' comment. Alongside The Cure, it does seem a bit old, but no more vintage than Young, Springsteen and Blur, especially with Stormzy in the mix.

Make this happen, according to NYA there’s BST, Dublin & some Germany dates coming up, so he’s definitely about

I’m pretty sure Dylan’s tour schedule all but rules him out. Not so Neil Young though (at least, not the last time I looked)..

Someone on social mentioned The Killers, it's as good a suggestion as we have so far.

The issue without a was still going to be it looks weak with Stormzy headlining, without a huge act I can't see many making it a standout set of headliners.

It makes as much sense as any other suggestion so far.  The thing about The Killers is they’ll look good on TV and have a crowd of people that will sing every word to their songs.  The same cannot be said for Stormzy, The Cure and The Strokes.

I went to see The Killers last year at a stadium gig and the crowd was average other than Brightside and Human.

They're not gonna book The Killers to come and play the worst song of all time and then The Cure the following night playing the best song of all time.

The Cure are going to cover The Sign by Ace of Base?

Having 2 headliners and a sub who played last time would be a bit odd

Not much different from the two years difference with the gap year of Mumford going from Other sub to headline the next edition. Primal Scream was similar too from Other sub to Pyramid sub...wanted by The Stones or not.

I know it is but let's be honest, they've took a big punt on Stormzy as he isn't a main stage headliner, I don't even think Reading would have give him that outright.

I’ve been working on the understanding Tame Impala will be headlining the Other one night. Based on no information by the way, purely on the fact they’re active, headlining festivals round the world, and don’t fit anywhere else on the farm after subbing Adele last time.

Same.

And Kevin Parker’s slightly clumsy quotes last year seemed to confirm it.

    • Tickets on sale when I'm abroad (I'm assuming this sells out in minutes), and the actual dates could not be worse for me work-wise. Still going to try to get tickets, of course, but god damn!
    • I'm personally confident that Slipknot will be one of the headliners next year (no insider info just lines up with them likely releasing an album soon)    Then there's the headliner that's never played the festival before which the bookers have alluded to so that's one of Blink, Foos, NIN, Nickelback and possibly Pearl Jam or even Bon Jovi    The third band I also think will be a new headliner who are being bumped up so Deftones, Offspring, Paramore Etc.    I'd love Slipknot, Foos and Paramore but realistically i'd go with Slipknot, Blink and Deftones
    • Loads of people have to listen to music they don't like all day, while at work!   Not much different.
    • Generally shorter too, I imagine. 🙂
    • Will that work for arenas with seats? People will have their tickets on their phones and needs to find their seat.
