Quark
Well I figure that with my work laptop, wife's work laptop and home laptop on WiFi and both phones on 4G I've got as good a chance as any. Does running work laptop via the VPN make any difference? Surely it would still be dependent on the connectivity of my home broadband to connect to the VPN in the first place? mungo57
I've only missed out one year and that was because of an 'administration error' on my girlfriend's part, not due to interwebs or such like. And I run a fucked old HP laptop that has no battery cos it died and the 'up' key no longer works. Its purely down to pot luck and determination. F5 once every 1/2 seconds religiously until you see that fateful message on twitter saying its sold out, or the message that comes up on the screen. The only year we used any kind of backdoor or techie type thing was the year Neil realised they had not turned on their 2nd server I think it was and advised we all mod our DNS settings I think it was. Took me 5 mins to mess around with it and then bang was on and booked in seconds. So yeah, I am a firm believer in grit and determination. And F5, don't forget f5. Wouldn't have a clue about whether a VPN would make a difference. All I know is I have to disable my VPN when I attempt to log onto internet banking, wouldn't know if same applies to buying tickets. Really not sure Quark, it was lucky for me twice so I'm going with the superstition that it will be my best chance again.

IP traffic is IP traffic, and it's all equal so it shouldn't matter where it comes from. Whether the theory is also true in practice I can't say, tho it's hard to come up with a sensible reason for why anyone would choose to give traffic from particular directions priority over other traffic. Quark
Thanks both. I figured that was the case, but when VPN started getting mentioned I wondered if I was missing something!
Untz
I can use two work VPNs. I will be using both (along with my standard home connection and 4G) on various devices. It may not be technically true, but in my head that's like having two extra people try for me and seeing as it's only the two of us going I need all the imaginary friends I can get. If it makes me feel better and it's not doing harm, it can only be good.
Chewie
First year for me actually being off work on T-day Can you ticket buying vets let me know what information I need to have ready? I'm assuming reg numbers, card details, and address. Anything extra?
Padgey
Reg number and postcode for who you are buying tickets for and then card details.
semmtexx
Do you have to do the "Verified by Visa" part too? Can never remember that extra password! Don't think you did need it last year - can anyone confirm?

Skoo
For 2016 I faffed around having a laptop of home wifi, another laptop on VPN (different IP) plus mobile phone, and I think the various devices just split my focus far too much to be effective. This year I am going for a single laptop, one tab, F5ing furiously. Maybe have the phone on the holding page too. One thing that kept happening this year on the phone was getting a white screen periodically. I kept thinking I had gotten through but was getting a display error. Only happened on the phone. Anyone else have the same thing?

morph100
I have promoted someone to Group 2 Team Leader, this means nothing but they were very pleased with the fact, what other made up roles can I give out ?

They could all have the title of Ticket Procurement Executives. You could make a couple of them Senior Ticket Procurement Executives reporting directly into the group 2 team leader who reports into you. DareToDibble
I've had a few people drop out meaning we are now at 8 people. A few of them have said "Lets do 2 groups of 4" but I can't help but think it makes sense to do 6 and 2 - at least then we potentially get at least 6 in, not just 4. I suggested each one of the 8 of us has a different 6 and it's pot luck as to who gets through. It isn't helping with my nerves!

In 2015 we split a group of 9 into sub groups of 4 and 5 (decision was made minutes before the tickets went on sale!). 4 of us got tickets, and 5 missed out. It was painful that we could have got two more people in and we didn't. Probably could have planned it better, but could easily have been the other way round as well. There's no easy way to do it when you have more than one group. Your idea sounds fair but you could end up blocking each other if two of you get through at the same time? We are all in constant communication via a WhatsApp group so I guess if I got through for example I could say "I'm getting these 6" so the other person that gets through could get the remaining 2. All about staying in constant contact. Just worry not everyone will pay attention! If anyone else has any suggestions or been in similar situations then I'm all ears. Don't think you did need it last year - can anyone confirm? From Glastonbury site “Payment by card for UK sales is by the following card types – Visa Debit, Visa Credit, Visa Electron, Switch/Maestro Domestic, Solo, MasterCard. You may be asked for additional security information when purchasing Festival tickets online from seetickets.com. Depending on your method of payment, you will be directed to either Verified by Visa or Mastercard SecureCode for payment authorisation. If you often make purchases online you’re probably already signed up, but if you’ve not already subscribed to one of these services you will need to do so before your transaction can be processed.” I’m assuming the warning about verified by visa is related to them now allowing credit card payments. I’ve never been asked for it when paying with my visa debit card so I’ll be hopefully doing that again this year and giving the credit cards a miss just in case. I don’t want to add another step to the payment process if I can avoid it.
