I'd guess they would want to remove Pangea first....although with no sign of any activity all week I'm a bit dubious the rumoured removal this week is happening.

Yeah, not happening today, is it?

I'm starting to think that the festival have purposely thrown some rumours out to muddy the waters. The info regarding the removal this week came directly from a very well-placed source.

I heard some other outlandish stuff last night that I'm not going to repeat. Again, it came from within the organisation but it's so nuts, it can't be true.

They're building another crane on top of the crane, aren't they?

I feel someone should say.... 'Try us'

Yes, the jib part of the crane has been visible on the webcam for at least a week now, and was even pointed out in this thread when it was delivered. Yet the "it's being removed" rumours persisted.

Funny how a rumour can take hold, when the facts are staring you in the face on the webcam.

Is it, whereabouts?

Was just having a random thought about the crane, obviously they’ve covered the thing in green paint to try and make it blend in and sneak it past the council planners, but the cab is also completely covered and last time there was a guy in their doing the operation. Presumably they’ve strayed it with something that’s easy to remove, but that must be a ballache?

It's near all the containers around PGA. It's a bit difficult to make out on the webcam, it depends on the light conditions if it's easy to make out or not. I only realised it was the crane, because someone already pointed out earlier in the thread that's what it was, rather than because of my own supervision or anything.

have a huge fly attached to the crane that goes round - and the spider eats it at the end of each set and it reveals the next act,  who was in the fly the whole time

Any sign of the (admittedly batshit crazy) story I heard of a ‘bridge’ being built from Worthy View into the site?

Apparently last time a random bridge was being built on site it was one of the Pilton based stage companies practicing for another festival they had later on.

    • If the rumours coming out of the U2 camp are correct (big stadium world tour) then think they're more likely to do Wembley, Twickenham, etc as they'll be able to bring their own production and typically like to go big.
    • I was thinking big London date and lots of smaller ones.
    • I don't think they are too big for Castlefield these days. They've not had a new album for almost a decade and they like playing smaller venues. Maybe multiple nights is another option as they do like residencies
    • Second half of next week I would expect for stage times.
    • made a last minute decision to go to Belladrum festival.   it was absolutely wonderful.   never been before, to be honest I think I was expecting a stage in a field and a burger van, but its nothing at all like that.   the site is beautiful, its small enough to get around, but big enough that there are things to discover round each corner, there are a good number of small stages tucked away.   you could quite easily convince yourself you were in Glastonbury in places.   I may have only been one time, but already learned a valuable lesson - the site itself may be Glastonbury like, but the "general camping" campsite is very much Reading like! as the morning mist rises... its a view like the Do Lung Bridge scene in Apocalypse Now...   so if you are not 15 years old, go to family or quiet camping which is fantastic.   its a real family friendly festival to - loads of families and kids of all ages running round and stuff for them to do.   I would 100% recommend it, and I really can't see any reason why I wont be going back next year!   🙂
