Ok, I'm going to just lob this back out there as it hasn't been mentioned for a while........

Oasis?

If there's such a big feeling that Noel is going to be there, what's to say Liam won't be involved too? Especially taking recent interviews and rumours into consideration.

I decided one year, when Oasis were at their peak to see them over the `Chemical Brothers. Worst decision ever. They were dire. Yes it would be amazing for them to play but haven't we seen this before all the reforming bands do all the paying festivals first.

Yesterday? Or are we talking a while as in a few pages?

I'm going to go with it's a diversionary tactic, after this afternoons discussion I have convinced myself it is going to be Floyd. In set up for a massive fall.

As the spirit of Jim Morrison told Wayne Campbell, "If you book them, they will come"... I am not giving up on the Floyd dream...

For the few people who still believe it's Oasis, Noel's ruled it out again

http://www.mirror.co.uk/3am/celebrity-news/liam-gallagher-girlfriend-debbie-gwyther-5613222

"Meanwhile, brother Noel, 47, has ruled out Oasis re-forming for Glastonbury Festival this year.

There have been rumours the band could headline Sunday night at the June festival.

But Noel says: Its not true. I dont think it is going to happen, sorry. It is not even close to happening. I have got nothing more to say on it than what I have already said."

Take that are the only band with show to sell in May before reforming and headlining in June. See Ya by the ice cream van at Chemical Brothers, if there are two vans we will be next to the one playing power ballads between sets.

T placings are not really that relevant to English festivals though. I imagine they went for him because the line was headline or nothing and they'd rather have him there than not, whereas the like of V and IOW didn't because they thought their fest would be fine without.

Will raises what might be a good point about acts being lined up to replace the headliner by day but I still think there would be many a better option than getting Noel in as backup and also I would think there's not a sufficient amount to prevent Noel from being announced when you look at it. He's not an exclusive anywhere and as for his festivals; Latitude - Glasto's already announced one of their headliners, Calling - headliners often get announced with London shows the following week, Summer in the City - sold out, TITP - irrelevant to Glastonbury.

What worked for Alt-J with Latitude or other acts with shows in London at the same time as Glastonbury doesn't necessarily apply with Noel Gallagher though. They have individual contracts so there's not a precedent there to rule Noel out.

RE: the Park finishing early, they actually take the stage apart on the Sunday night, so possibly there is some logistical reason that particular stage has to come down before they can do the others

I'm not sure we've given AC/DC enough thought. I think they are likely to play Glastonbury on the Sunday with the set shown on a big screen in Glasgow to keep the Scots happy.

Do we know anyone with a ticket? It could be a big rouse to keep us off the scent :derisive:

shite. please don't let it be The Libertines! although once i'm over the initial 'that's a shite headliner' disappointment, i'll soon realise that Chemical Brothers are on which is awesome (even if i'll be too fucked to enjoy them properly)

I don't think it is possible for them to fly all the way from Russia and play one more show in one day..

Pulp would be fantastic, sadly there's no evidence that they're even active as a band at the moment.

...and that's why they have to keep it quiet until June. Pulp are releasing an album a la Bowie, with no fanfare, then straight into a headline slot at Glastonbury!

This is a story I made up in my brain and has no footing or foundation in the real world...and so it fits perfectly into this thread!
