I think we'd have a denial from one side or the other by now.

It's happening.

Poor show from the band and glasto regarding the cancellation of the Paris show if that's what's going down

Really does smack of last minute desperation for me. No problem with the band, but it does seem like someone has let the festival down and they've gone cap in hand to booking agents for a big enough name.

Assuming it's all true of course.

To those who keep saying they won't believe this just based on the Sun article. When it first came to light, the Who only went to R on here.

Think Neil then posted something along the lines of hearing elsewhere that the Who story was right and then it got changed again to TBC.

Seems like this one has a lot better founding than just the Sun.

Anyway, aside from the shiteyness of it all, I need a Sunday headliner, so I'm gonna get cracking giving them a good listen - I only (knowingly) know My Generation and Pinball Wizard.

Listened to a couple of Belle and Sebastian songs when the lineup first came out and wasn't too bothered by them, but obviously that's only a couple of songs. Same story with the Chems, too; only know a couple of songs.

I keep seeing people say that The Sun got it right multiple times before as well.

Anyone know if there's any truth to this? Can't think of the last time they got something right?

Apparently they had Metallica last year and Arctic Monkeys the year before that

To quote Zooey Deschanel in "Almost Famous": Listen to "Tommy" with a candle burning and you will see your entire future.

And then listen to "Who's Next".

The flipside of this is that if it was true they would have made an announcement re the Paris show?

people will remember the Sun geting the odd thing right.

everyone forgets when they make some bullshit prediction or claim every week which turns out to be wrong though...

however, if Neil is now hearing from sources that it is The Who, then The Sun have probably got it right...

The sun are shite but sometimes they do get good info

They were the first place to say Arctic Monkeys, Rolling Stones, Mumford and Sons in 2013 as the trio.

We knew the Arctics were doing it, but the sun was the first place to claim they were the three headliners.

Yes but most people who weren't being overly optimistic thought that would be the trio. This is the point, they'll guess loads of likely things, and some of them will be correct.

I kind of lost track of the received wisdom during today's madness, but are tickets for that Paris show still on sale ANYWHERE? Including the secondary sales bastards? Because if yes, and people are conceivably buying tickets in good faith, for an event that has already, unofficially been cancelled then (a) that's just stratospheric levels of piss taking and ( b ) fraud?

This whole thing, if so, just stinks of capitalist, materialist shite to me. And I'm pretty easy going, generally.

what will they do different from 2007?

Looks like they do a whole career retrospective with big tributes to Ox & Moon, which I'm guessing is video footage and so on. That's *if* they do the 'Hits 50' show that's touring round, but surely it can't be very different if they're in the middle of that just because of the logistics of changing something as big as that for a one-off night.

Never saw them with Keith but saw them once with the ox and three times without and they've always been great

Birmingham NEC 1980....front row....Kenny Jones on drums. Lasers during 'Won't Get Fooled....' were possibly the best I've seen then and since.

Great gig.
