Oh I'm not doubting that it sometimes happens, but the majority of exclusive claims turn out to be true.

I don't remember people getting this upset over exclusive claims before the Metallica thing though.

Sometimes? It happens every festival season that some exclusive claims turn out to be untrue or misleading.

Yeah the overwhelming majority of exclusives do hold out, especially with headliners.

Where is this Underworld exclusive claim anyway?

Press release reads...

Another firm Besti-crew favourite is Underworld, who, were extremely pleased to say, will headline the Big Top on Thursday night as part of a UK festival exclusive for us!

Of course every year there are a few exclusive claims that turn out to be false, but given the amount of acts being claimed as exclusives nowadays that's bound to happen. To say all exclusive claims are wrong or worthless is just nonsense though.

That's why I said 'some'. It's still fairly early days with line ups and there is at least a few false claims of exclusive appearances already. If I could be bothered I'd probably find more

Could the Underworld exclusive be because most of their gigs at the moment are "Underworld playing dubnobasswithmyheadman" but Bestival have them doing a full on greatest hits set?

From the press release it's not clear whether it's a greatest hits set or playing the album. It mentions their current tour in the release.

Why won't they? They are touring. They have a free Sunday. They wanted to play.

John Giddings - "getting Fleetwood is great, but you can never one up glastonbury"

It's got nothing to,do with "exclusivity" and everything to do with both Eavis and Fleetwood saying they are not doing it.

Get a grip!

Remember when this board bullied the work experience dork running the Sonisphere chat when we found out Metallica weren't exclusive? Oh how we laughed.

Ha ha Dork. Great word. That was so funny. I forgot about that.

Bloody exclusives. Underworld are one now. Getting ridiculous. I can't (won't) believe all of them.

    • Ah, that is interesting and ruins my theory a bit!!   I think my point just about holds though, and coming full circle on this discussion, being a sizable band such as Muse and not being able to sell out two O2 dates very quickly or at all doesn’t fill me with confidence that they be able to do a decent job selling a stadium tour…although maybe if Muse do something about their pricing, maybe they can!
    • I’ve said it elsewhere too but Emily Eavis said a 2028 headliner was booked, to me that’s only going to be someone the size of Oasis or Taylor Swift
    • Christ didn't even see that!
    • It does feel very bland. It would certainly spell another year (my third, I think) away from Pyramid headliners for me. That doesn't mean they aren't worthy, though. I don't follow what any of them are up to, as it isn't my thing. Good luck to them.   You would think coming off a fallow year, they would want one big hitter. 'Big hitter' is obviously open to debate, but that was/is Madonna. Let's have it right. The eggs have gone in that basket, and it seems (as far the rumours go) that it's blown up. So now you're left with another plan B/replacement headliner.   I'm still of the opinion that Oasis will do it, before the Oasis thing is all said and done. Probably 2028, if they can come to an agreement. It may transpire that 2027 is bland (or at least to some of us), and 2028 is a bit... wild.   Again, though, none of us categorically know ANY of the headliners, as it stands.
    • Second go.....    Still f**king fantastic - Well done WIlliam Orbit -  Bugman & Trimm Trabb mega tracks - No Distance Left To Run hauntingly Beautiful
