If R.E.M. Ever became a thing again would they still be headliner material?

Y.E.S.

If I had one wish, I'd hold Michael Stipe to ransom; get the band together, headline Glastonbury playing a set consisting of songs up to New Adventures in HiFi + Imitation Of Life, and I'll use my wash to cure the world from injustice and pollution. If you don't I'll use it to kill some endangered beavers.

Mumford and Sons absolutely do, clearly. Pretty sure I read something about Marcus Mumford's parents being big donors, probably whatever sum gets you into the PMs favourite bands. I would've thought you'd be the first one jumping on Adele for it, given her comments on tax. If any of The Stones still live in the UK, they're definitely voting Tory, can easily see Charlie Watts hitting up every Tory conference, fucking mad for it that lad.

There don't appear to be too many genuine working class musicians that have got very far recently. Whilst it's hard to imagine Thom, or anyone else from Radiohead, voting Tory - we just don't know. I can see at least half of Coldplay voting for them as it's a family tradition. It's not hard to imagine Mumford and Chums playing a Young Conservatives ball to a hall full of farmers' sons. Muse are probably UKIP or something equally daft.

I didn't read your post as I'm too tired to read anything longer than 1 line long at the moment, but awesome username!

Bellers did properly vote Brexit. I assume Daltrey did too considering his remarks about immigration.

For a place that was so down and out about Brexit, we did manage to have the last headliner before and the first headliner after the referendum fronted by geezers in favour of it.

+ Daysleeper

+ The Great Beyond

+ Leaving New York

Apart from those omissions, I'm with ya.

I know what you are saying, but these musicians are rich media luvvies, and as such are usually patronising champagne socialists. Mumford has got a fancy hollywood actress wife too hasnt he, they are all lefties (in words at least, deeds is a different matter).

Adele is a tory in all but voting behaviour. Not that I expect that she actually bothers voting. If you vote labour and act tory does that make you labour or tory?

Charlie watts though, you are bang on.

This would make my life. I've never got to see them before and love all their stuff (especially their older albums).
I'm sure them reforming would be a big enough deal to have them headline.

R.E.M would stil be big enough to headline. Easy.

Never ever gonna happen though.

A return from REM would be HUGE. But as you said they won't ever be back. Stipe has intimated as much in interviews, don't blame them really.
