I didn't say it would be busy than Dua Lipa but I don't know how big her crowd was further back. What I do know is that before Glastonbury, Olivia outsold her with her own tour with that much ease it's not even a comparison worth speaking about. And we both know if Olivia did a stadium tour instead she equally would sell it. Olivia is basically doing Glastonbury now and will still have tons of people that will go to a next stadium tour with it. Olivia at Glastonbury is a massive booking right now.

Ah sorry -it was implied based off what you had replied to

You know once I start with these things it will never end.

That Leicester player said he'd get fed up with the same gag every week.

N'didi?

Yeah, he did.

All very good, but I bet you can’t name an Arsenal player, Kanu?

Even if the bookers were crazy enough to take that risk..

He'd not agree to it anyway, given his seeming dislike of playing live and the bruising he took at Coachella. I've very much got the impression that he's one of the "only for a massively inflated fee" artists.

if he wanted the money he wouldve kept playing weekend 2. But he sh*t the bed and also had to eat some of his iwn fee to pay for the production stuff. The ice skating rink wasnt free.

we got lemonade out of the lemons anyway. Fred, Skrillex and Four Tet threw down and Blink 182 played to a hometown crowd to close the Sunday. It all worked out. I am fine to have witnessed Franks downfall because you dont know how insufferable it had been for 3 years of Frank hype.

so its

Friday: Olivia

Saturday: Fred

Sunday: Eminem

got it. Emily will scream to to heavens about having their first asian headliner now.

Just heard this on the radio - someone at Coldplay’s last gig requested their song “Fix It” …. Good improvisation, to be fair  https://x.com/planetacoldplay/status/1843416099720695854?s=46&t=dalEebDlRypjk77YE_o6Vw

Don't think they actually played Fix You as a result, which seems unnecessarily cruel.

Can't wait for him to improv a song about Hull.

For selfish reasons, I'd want Rihanna over Stevie Wonder.  Purely because I've seen Stevie twice but would feel compelled to to watch him again and couldn't give 2 f**ks about Rihanna so would be free to go elsewhere.

I’m 50 and would be thrilled to see O-Rod headline.

That's fair enough but I think you can appreciate her lyrics aren't particularly aimed at our demographic are they? That was the point.

I'm sure she will go down very well with the younger punters like Dua Lipa did. That did absolutely nothing for me either though. I just don't get all that pop stuff with huge sets distracting you from the fact there's not actually a proper band playing most of the time and the singer is only semi singing live as there's an obvious backing track in use.

Don't think they should be headlining personally if it's not 100% live but that's just my take.

Love and heartbreak arent universal themes?

Her show will be pretty different to Dua Lipa's.

One thing I can confirm is that there is definitely a band playing 100% of the time for Olivia Rodrigo.

I actually think she's one of the strongest lyricists working today.  Tell me this doesn't appeal to anyone who has experienced the isolation of depression.

Edited to add: As for singing and performing live, have some tiny desk:

I don’t know much about Olivia Rodrigo atm but if she’s headlining I will definitely do some back catalogue research and most likely go and see her.

It’s weird to assume that new pop artists only appeal to the younger generations.. I was on the catwalk barrier for Dua Lipa as I loved a lot of her singles and went away thinking it was one of my favourite sets in 27 years of glasto going.  Her music is universal, definitely not aimed at a particular demographic.

Even if music is more directed to a specific demographic, which maybe one of my favourite artists at the moment - Charlie XCX is, I don’t think that should stop people of any age enjoying it.  Good music is good music, end of.  I’ve never felt too old for anything and I’m 51 now..

I know both @kalifire and myself both really enjoyed Dua .... both of us in our 40s .... and my thoughts were similar in my 17 years

    • Plenty of good stuff this month. Very difficult choice, but I'm going with some of those I've listened to most (the sunny weather may also have been influential)...   1. The Coral - 388 2. Kurt Vile - Philadelphia's Been Good to Me 3. The Lemon Twigs - Look For Your Mind!   Others I've been enjoying... Laurie Anderson's live album, Broken Social Scene, Pigeon, The Black Keys, etc
    • Yesterday was was Primavera is all about and a reminder of why I come back every year. I saw 9 acts, very diverse in terms of genre and vibe, and most of them were great.  Highlights:   The Cure - have wanted to see them for years. Finally caught them and it was immaculate. Robert Smith's vocals at his age are incredible. The band sounded exactly like the albums which is impressive. 2.5 hours with basically no filler somehow.  Viagra Boys - what a front man! So much energy. Non stop moshing. Sound was great, vibe was top notch. Again 10/10 for me.  Rilo Kiley - basically what pipan said. Not a huge crowd but nice vibe, good sound. Different from the other acts I saw.   I also enjoyed the late night electronic stuff with Aurora Halal and KI/KI being fun. Caught some of Skrillex before Aurora Halal and it was cool in it's own way but not really my thing so we left.
