Her live show is very energetic and she engages with her fans really well. Which songs did you listen to? I’d recommend Raw Thoughts, Want Me, Colours of You and Ride or Die to get a feel for her various styles. Couldnk grab a link to your Avalon playlist?

I don’t think they do, it’s just me being dense. @Nobody Interesting said she was “at the top of the Avalon poster” and I mistook that for meaning headliner. It’s actually just alphabetical.

Fair enough, I thought it was bigger in my haste and excitement. She always seems to crop up at festivals I’m at. This will be my fifth time seeing her and I’ve never attended any of her own gigs! Saw her at Tempelhof Sounds 2022, Tramlines 2022, Neighbourhood 2022 and Rock Werchter 2023. Excellent every time.

Ooh what brings you there tomorrow? I’ve actually been in the theatre but for a comedy Christmas show with Simon Amstell, Fern Brady, Tim Key and Ivo Graham. Was decent but as you say pretty conventional.

Hmm maybe. I would have thought eight months would be ample time for a band the size of Vampire Weekend to find a support act.

Sounds great, a pal of mine that went mentioned the high ceilings - she said it almost felt like an outside gig.

Oh nice, I was worried the queues would be busy most of the day. If I can have a nice leisurely breakfast before setting off and then just stroll in at 11 then that’s ideal.

I’m staying in Tangerine Fields so the tent will be pre pitched and my stuff will be nearby in the car. I’m wondering whether I’m better off heading straight into the festival queue then having the shorter re-entry queue to rely on the rest of the week or whether to wait a bit later whilst the queue dies down.

How did you find Aviva Studios as a venue? Not done a gig there yet, only done the comedy but that was in the theatre bit not the hall.

Thanks for the response. Is there much difference between the various Pedestrian Gates in terms of how busy they get or is it pretty much just rammed everywhere from Wednesday morning onwards? With me staying in a prepitched I’m wondering whether I’m better leaving all my gear in the car and jumping in the queue as early as I can so that I only have to worry about the, presumably shorter, re-entry queue for the rest of the festival. The alternative would be getting my gear in the tent, cracking open a beer from the cooler and waiting for the queue to die down. Does it get quieter as the day goes on or am I dreaming there?
