It says Oasis aren't playing.  They could rename themselves something like The Churnup In The Skies and still play

Noel Gallagher & The High Flying Birds playing an Oasis set to rehearse ready for their new singer?  😄

I think we're underestimating the possibility of Lady Gaga. New album by the end of the year apparently. And she's unlikely to do large extensive tours anymore because of her fibromyalgia, so will do more one-off, high impact shows (like Glasto).

If it's Fred / Gaga / Stevie Wonder then that would be a great mix.  Not arsed about Fred personally, think it's all emperors new clothes, but no denying current popularity.

And yet, my point stands.

In the unlikely chance that they all offered their services for next year at an affordable rate there's no way that Emily is knocking back, say, Oasis, the Stones and the Boss to instead sweat blood trying to book a less popular but more diverse line-up.

I can usually follow you, but I'm afraid on this subject I've become increasingly unclear what your point is, other than maybe suggesting things that are clearly not happening?  🤷‍♂️

Emily's a gig promoter and her primary responsibility is to the ticket holders - and to book the best line-up she can within her means.  In an ideal world it would be gender and genre diverse, but that still has to happen in a context of giving the people who've bought the tickets a good time.

So if it's a straight choice between some Tier A headline options and some Tier B ones, she's likely going to pick from Tier A, regardless of the gender split.

Given her remarks over the last couple of years, I disagree. I think O-Rod has to be in the mix, hopefully at the expense of Fred.

What if she isn’t available?

If there are 3 headliner level acts available that are male, and none that are female, she’ll book the three male acts. Yeah people complained about 2023 (ludicrously, to my mind) but different people complained in 2024. Some people complain every year.

That would be a really great trio. Something for everyone. Except indie rock fans, but they'd surely have plenty on the Other Stage for them.

So if Emily says its not happening then its not, right? Or does she have to stay silent cause she is trying to make it happen and then just to embarass Oasis for making this much of an effort to say its not happening. Like it would totally piss off a lot of people if they think opening night in Cardiff was not truly first and they thought they were going to the first gig and it was destroyed

It seems odd that Oasis would feel the need to clarify this early on, it’s not like demand would drop enough to prevent a sell out tour just because there was Glastonbury speculation.

I do however think that there’s benefits for the festival to put this speculation to bed early doors, otherwise it would just define the whole build up until it was ruled out at a later date.

I think the festival have the right to ask oasis to end the speculation, there’s no contractual relationship in place and oasis need to clarify that.

People just need to accept it’s not happening, the fairytale scenario rarely plays out when it comes to stuff like this and commercial factors and what drive all of the decisions. Oasis playing Glastonbury 25 makes no commercial sense.

also, Cardiff almost certainly won’t be opening night, there will be warm up gigs. I can’t imagine these have even been arranged yet as the tour appears to have been organised on the back of a fag packet

    • If anyone spots any new tour posters on site could they share them please? Hoping for ADTR and Electric Callboy tours
    • It completely depends on how that count is done   if it’s individuals entering the arena each day, over the whole weekend, it was at 30% capacity and in no way one of the highest attended festivals in the UK   it was in no way as low as 30% though so that can’t be the measure, so as a number, with no context, “90,000” is meaningless.   Only one category of Leeds ticket seems to have moved on to second tier pricing at this point. I don’t think this is necessarily a sales indicator as much as a method to keep prices up north lower than down south but with this and the anecdotal video evidence, it’s clear Leeds has been nowhere near its capacity (of 90,000/ day) the last 2-3 years
    • £56 - £118 was the price range.   Which for an arena show, dare I say it, felt "okay" in this environment.
    • I’m sure someone said on here months back that they self confirmed at one of their gigs, like late last year
    • Yeah Kurt Vile keeps growing on me more and more. DCFC I found solid enough but relatively forgettable unfortunately.
