I was speaking to someone who is quite heavily involved in BST this weekend and she said the rumours in her circles are that Stevie Wonder is headlining. I mentioned about his ill health and how he was rumoured for 2024 and dropped out, and she said that that was all booked in and that he had to drop out, but is now recovering and should be ready for 2025. Take that for what it's worth - I can't see it personally but she seemed quite convinced.

OK. That all seems to pass the sniff test.

I'd assume if he's at BST then the G will be part of the deal.

Didnt Massive Attack do the same and only show a couple songs or none at all. I remember Portishead was limited.

and yeah, if they were blacked out it would be pretty crazy and Im sure now the BBC would love to keep doing their drone shots above the crowd to show off how many people are there watching a respective band. They really should start having the drone elsewhere. But thats a budget thing Im sure.

Oasis can get their festival money in 2026 thats for sure. Even if they do most of them and then save Glasto and a final run of Wembley shows to follow in 27 that should be enough.

I think BBC wouldn't show Massive Attack because of the content of their visuals, lots of difficult scenes of warzones etc.

I agree that he's basically the worst possible booking the festival could make.

I'm usually quite relaxed about headliners - over the years there have been more I don't want to see than those I have - but I'd actually be disappointed in our forward-thinking, progressive, liberal and diverse festival if they book him.

But unfortunately, we can't rule him out quite that easily.

At a quick guess, the number of worse acts is in double figures at least. Oasis being one.

Glastonbury Festival have booked plenty of twats over the years.

Still amazed people don’t understand him. But anyway I’ll take the opinion of most top HipHop artists over the attendees of a festival

You're not the only person who realises he doesn't actually cut up women with chainsaws, brain genius.

However, adding some ironic distance to misogyny and homophobia doesn't absolve his act of misogyny and homophobia.

Not only is his recent music awful, but Eminem is absolutely dreadful live. In terms of a "live" performance, he'd be the worst pyramid headliner in some time.

AM and GNR would be stiff competition

Personally would find it a bit regressive to go all male headliners

If it were three blokes at the top, there'd still be a huge stack of female acts across all the other stages.

But who would you switch out and for whom? Rhianna is back in the studio. Madonna and Taylor want the big bucks. Can't see Beyonce returning. Lady Gaga or O-Rod maybe?

There are options but they've got to get the people who are available to them.

Given Emily’s stance on trying to get more female headliners, I’d be shocked if they book 3 male headliners especially so close to 2023.
With Rihanna, I did see she said it would be crazy to not release an album in 2023. I think in a Vogue interview just after the Super Bowl, perhaps.
Same year as the rumoured Glastonbury booking. Then fell pregnant. Delaying an album/tour cycle.

If she’s about next year, I think she’s our best bet. Presume if she tours in 2025, dates would be announced by the end of the year. That could give us some kind of clarity.

Time will tell.

    • My top 5:   1. Little Simz (her appearance with Gorillaz was also one of the highlights of their show. The absolute winner of the weekend) 2. Cure 3. Rilo Kiley 4. Gorillaz. A bit disappointing set for me, compared to last time. Felt like a bad setlist, whenever things started to heat up, they did some new calmer song 5. Florance Road. The good thing thay came out of the rain is being able to see them
    • So since Andy Copping has stepped down and this new booker has taken over, we’ve had Green Day (who Andy never managed to book) and now potentially Blink 182 (another Andy never got done) is this just coincidence or do you think Andy never actually pushed hard for these bands?
    • After three cancelations in a row  I'm not sure if we should just give up, or chear up cause we got so much closer this time
    • My top 5 (saw 20 in total):   Olivia Rodrigo The Cure Oklou Geese 2hollies   I would love to have loved the xx-show because I love their music, but that one just felt too 2017 for me. Like zero artistic progress   Best concert of last week was Bad Bunny in Madrid on the Sunday before PS though - fantastic, maybe the very best show I have ever seen, absolutely unreal experience.    Also the reason why I felt so relaxed on Thursday I think, even though MA was the act I was looking forward to the most.
