Is a Linkin Park reunion with a new singer a definite thing for next year?

its not Chester which is the most important thing. This is a bit different than Prodigy moving forward without Kieth or Kasabian just doing it without Tom. Chester made the band. LP is gonna do Download and the like. Less risk for them thats for sure.

Was just thinking that. Weird as f**k.

Still would love them to do Glasto but the only slot they could feasibly do would be other headline and I think they're a bit niche for that sadly.

Sold out the O2 this year so there’s a pretty big audience for them. I’d say they compare to other Other headliners.

Yep, she's very much in the "next chance to get her is probably also the last chance" club, and while that sounds cynical, it's exactly where the priority should be for the next few years.

I agree with this, I don’t get why they’ve been booking so many 50 year olds who still have decades to do it. Cher, Manilow, Cliff Richards, Rod Stewart etc are very much now or never.

+ they’re only whittling down their pool for a few decades when they’ve already had Kylie, Shania, Alanis and there’s nobody left

Cliff Richards FFS, I really have heard it all now.

Is this some sort of weird competition to find the worst possible “legend”?

The word 'legend' really does seem to throw a lot of people - better to think if it as Old Ma Eavis's Golden Oldies Sunday Funtine slot.

So the runners and riders are:

Fred Again

Eminem

Stevie

with O-Rod, The Boss and - an outlier I think if they can't bag anyone else - Sam Fender also in the conversation

Think there are some of the usual suspects you can throw into the ring as well. The Killers. Foo Fighters. Etc. Until they're ruled out, they'll always be a possible.

Edited to add Gaga, though that's a real outside bet.

Interesting set. Would upset the ‘where are the female headliners?’ AND ‘where are the real bands?’ colonies simultaneously.

Know it's been mentioned already above, but with Lady Gaga's seventh album likely coming out before the end of the year, rollout starting October with assumably a 2025 world tour to follow - she's got to be somewhat on the table surely. Would be an incredible booking

Yeah, I changed the post to add her in.  Doubt she'll do a full tour though - but that doesn't rule out one-offs like Coachella or the G.

Need to pack the bill further down.  Cher in the Legends Slot.  Chappell Roan / Sab Carp / Gracie A taking up big slots elsewhere.

Cher in the legends slot and two of The Boss, ORod or Lady Gaga and you're running dangerously close to an all timer here

And even headlining Download feels weird for a band practically covering their own music.

Charli headlining Other one night, Chappell third down Pyramid, Cher legend slot. Quite a few big name female acts who look pretty likely to be around next year to balance the lineup if we do end up with three male headliners.

    • Muse will be about but the issue with Muse is that they’ll have the pick of doing IOW, BST, Glasto, R&L or big parks/stadiums.

    • Not sure what this means for 2027 but it looks like Holt Farm's website and email are both now inactive and unavailable.   It'll be a shame if they don't operate for 2027 as it was an excellent alternative to the other off-site offerings.   Fingers crossed they're just enjoying their downtime 🤞
    • Deftones, Blink, Muse?   Deftones as the next bump up makes all the sense, Blink as the "band that has never played before" and round out with Muse as its been a long time since they headlined and they have a new album coming which seems on the heavier side from the singles so far.   I could see Muse do their own tour to be fair, maybe MCR in their place? Could also see Deftones switched out for Slipknot/SOAD depending on who is about.
    • I have no issue with the Primavera crowd in most respects. They’re always friendly, respectful and no hint that there could be trouble at any point.   However…the talking is horrific here. The xx was pretty much ruined for me due to people having conversations with their mates the whole way through. Noticed it from all different nationalities across the weekend…English, Irish, Spanish etc. There seems to be no understanding of the nuances of when it’s okay to talk and when it isn’t. And obviously the sound being quiet at a lot of spots on the main stages exacerbates the issue. That alone has made me reconsider whether I will be coming back, it would probably take a lineup as good as this year (unlikely)
