Like what? I probably have but like what?

All the ones where they’ve said something is going to happen that didnt. I don’t keep a tally, and surprisingly they don’t neccasarily keep them online after they’re proved to be bullshit. But it happens every year.

The slots I mentioned aren't exactly prominent.

I've watched tonnes of music channels, Justin offers a lot of interesting and unique perspectives. My opinion though.

I’ll back you on this, I don’t watch a lot of YouTube but Justin’s 15 minute videos breaking down a huge range of artists and songs are so interesting. A very clever guy with a clear love for how music works and knowledge of music theory.

No idea where they would fit at Glasto but I think I’d see them for nostalgia, be cool to see Permission to Land in full now it’s 20 years old

It seems to me like the Other opener is a bigger deal than Pyramid opener. Is that correct?

They’re different beasts - Pyramid opener can often be a very big name, doing something unusual, like Damon with the Syrian orchestra, or Hacienda Classical. Seems perfect for the ABBA holograms to me.

James touring in May, they opened the other in 2016. Were really good,  in all the mud, straw and wood chips. The other opener is often a bigger deal than the pyramid opener.

best other opener in all my festivals .... I probably do a 50 /50 split of other and Pyramid but the other spot usually seems weirdly  disappointing must be as im still recovering from night before

The Other opener is a thankless slot that’s a hiding to nothing. 11am to a largely tired, hungover crowd, many of whom are only there because it’s a name they’ve heard of.

It’s impossible for most acts to generate the levels of energy needed to get everyone going that time of day.

I love the Other opener slot. After all the build up, ticket day, getting there, getting in, pitching your tent, my Wednesday bimble, my Thursday bar crawl..... it feels very much like the official start..... usually a band I like, Charlatans, James, Pretenders...... love it.

Convinced you’re living about 20 years in the past if you think the darkness would get a prominent slot at Glastonbury 2023. Guy is a nobody now.

He's having a weird resurgence based on the YouTube channel. It's strange, and doesn't qualify them for a Pyramid slot, but they are loads bigger now than they were five years ago.

If they can bring the orchestra I can see them doing a Pyramid opening slot like Hacienda Classical or Black Dyke Band

I don't think there's that clear a pattern tbh even just on the last few festivals, but that's only cos on each stage there are some I know and some I don't - eg Ziggy Marley was up against Libertines and he got a good turn out, not least that this year he was playing songs for his Dad's 75th anniversary.

Do the holograms work in the daylight though

Yes, I’m looking to get tickets for their gig in Glasgow.

At what point do we seriously have to discuss that Peter Kay has got the pull to headline the pyramid… first comedian to headline Glastonbury? It’s a festival of performing arts and surely that comes under it..

(I’m semi trolling but factually I’m not wrong).

Anyone else think Paramore have a decent chance of headlining next year.

Instantly sold out arena tour, mega amount of radio play, female singer (glasto have been aiming for 50% female lineup), Glastonbury shaped hole in their tour.

I think it could be Elton, AM, Paramore. If Elton does Sunday teatime good chance of Dua Lipa making headliner too

I think they are more likely to headline Reading.

What is it with you Brits and Paramore. Fun little band for sure but c’mon.

Paramore is a completely legit shout given the type of music they release now. Wouldn't be out of place on a Glastonbury line up at all. Besides, even if they were still releasing Riot or Brand New Eyes style music then Olivia Rodrigo played and she is very much inspired by that stuff.

Exactly. Arguably one of the biggest pop punk bands ever, and I'd say the biggest female fronted band on the planet right now (not solo artist, IE Taylor, Billie and Adele). Genuinely a great modern era band.

They've played Reading loads of times before, but I don't see why that's a reason for them to not play. Reading basically has 100% crossover with main stages at glasto

    • A question has crossed my (questionable) mind;   Has the size of the Green Fields remained the same as other areas have expanded / been added on to, since say, 2014 (the last time that I attended)? Are they 'lost' within, or well attended?    That's actually two questions. The second one just slipped in at the end by taking advantage of my lack of means to stop it.
    • I'd say the same about Kylie.    Annie would be awesome, Duran not so much, and on the issue of them wanting a beanie slot, that probably rules out a fair few others who I think would fit the bill very well... and are legitimately more entitled to a headline, and/or too expensive.   Was just about to suggest Chaka Khan, but see @Gnomicide has beat me to it!    What about someone like Bryan Ferry?
