Do Roxy Music think they are going to get the same reception as Diana/Kylie though? That’s the question.

No.

But why does it matter? Like people have said on here, we're running out of acts of that popularity/singalong appeal that could do the slot.

I think it's probably a good thing to have a smaller legend for a bit. There aren't that many in the mega star arena as people have said.

Roxy Music are far from a favourite band of mine and I'm not 100% on watching them, but they have loads of great tunes:

Love is the Drug

Street Life

2HB

In Every Dream Home a Heartache

More Than This

Virginia Plain

Do the Strand

Dunno if Ferry does any solo stuff with Roxy?

Next person who doesn’t mention Both Ends Burning is in big trouble!

Hasn't done so far on their current tour, albeit only 2 dates in. Saw them in Manchester 10 years or so ago, they were really good. Would definitely be in the crowd for them.

Not a fan of the current setlist - no Street Life or Virginia Plain, WTF!?

They'll do a festival setlist with them on I presume. He's not daft and they will be doing it to boost their pension pots so expect more of the well known ones.

Kinda like they are moving this slot away from kitch pop to a more normal slot for an oldie act, opens up so many more possibilities.

Viva Roxy Music is one of the best live albums I've ever heard so will defo be along to see this.

Plenty of more straightforward rock acts have played it before - Paul Simon, Ray Davies, ELO. But if they can book the Spice Girls or Cher for 2024 they absolutely will.

Yeah, it's obv dependent on who's available. There's been some megastars and some niche acts, but you can't please everyone. Dolly was hugely popular, likewise Barry Gibb, yet I'm sure for both most people only turned up for the singalong-songs that everyone's heard a zillion times and the gimmick factor. For Paul Simon, think 95% of the crowd were there for Call Me Al.

They're going to book any well-known act really over a certain age (of years active) if they're free and available.

If it spreads people out a bit too as well, there should be less worrisome movements of people too.

If we're doing "step down" legend slot moving forward – which is probably sensible for the festival to not paint itself into a corner – then Duran Duran would absolutely murder that slot. Saw them this summer and they were fantastic. Hit after hit.

Duran Duran would in no way be a step down, and in fact I’m pretty sure they’d see themselves as above the slot given they still pickup headline gigs at the likes of IOW and BST. They’d be a perfect Sunday legend though if they were willing to accept it, so fingers crossed.

For Your Pleasure is alright, obviously not as good* as Bowie around the same time.

That 80s stuff though, it's the sound of those records that I can't get over, maybe if I can get past the production, there's some decent songs in there.  I suspect I'm not going to like anything post Eno, but there's a long time until June, we'll see.

* To be fair, I'm only halfway through the album.

I've been banging the Le Bon drum for years on here!

That would be fun, double header legend slots, Roxy Music AND Duran Duran. Why not??

    • Not necessarily but it should be, Download have a habit of messing it uo when others get the bookings on point. Good Charlotte I doubt are playing 3rd down and that too 3 that day while dreamy is too strong. I think you'd have one another day to help sell weekend tickets. I also doubt Papa Roach play.
    • Here's a bit of a wild stab, few placings may be off, and for all I know half of these won't actually be touring next year, but screw it, it's a bit of fun   Pyramid: Sabrina Carpenter, Phoebe Bridgers, TBA (Florence + The Machine), Garbage, The Last Dinner Party, Interpol, Alex James Britpop Classical Other: Chase & Status, Teddy Swims, Clairo, The Kooks, Zara Larsson, Kingfishr, Sports Team, Orbital West Holts: Robyn, Baby Keem, De La Soul, Deltron 3030, JID, Dua Saleh, kwn, Daniela Latila Woodsies: Bonobo, Darkside, TBA (Tame Impala), Laufey, Warmduscher, Wednesday, The Lottery Winners, The Royston Club, Florence Road Park: Patti Smith, Super Furry Animals, Slayyyter, The Cardigans, Skye Newman, Kelly Lee Owens, Teen Jesus & The Jean Teasers   Pyramid: Harry Styles, The xx, Richard Ashcroft, The Pogues, Jessie J, Sigrid, Travis Other: Rosalia, Sombr, Mitski, Alex Warren, Holly Humberstone, Cat Burns, Pale Waves, Yard Act West Holts: Basement Jaxx, Elyanna, Clipse, L’Imperatrice, Nation of Language, Jim Legxacy, Yazmin Lacey, RIP Magic Woodsies: Suede, Chvrches, Bleachers, MUNA, The Cribs, Keo, Bleech 9:3, The Lilacs Park: MARINA, Magdalena Bay, Jacob Alon, TBA (Lily Allen performs West End Girl), Getdown Services, Isaac Wood, Snail Mail, Madra Salach Pyramid: Sam Fender, Hozier, David Byrne, Cher, Obongjayar, David Gray, Billy Ocean Other: Doja Cat, Deftones, Addison Rae, Ren, Viagra Boys, Maisie Peters, The Reytons, Hard Life West Holts: Kano, Thievery Corporation, Angine De Poitrine, Thee Sacred Souls, Brooke Combe, Sasha Keable, Master Peace Woodsies: The Wombats, Metronomy, Geese*, Dry Cleaning, EsDeeKid, Sienna Spiro, Cowboy Hunters, Radio Free Alice Park: Big Thief, Laura Marling, MJ Lenderman, Richard Dawson, Oklou, Maruja, Dead Dads Club, Ratboys   *There's always one band booked for Woodsies that ends up being massively under-billed and gets shut down really early. • Another Kraftwerk one for me today, as just back from seeing them.
    • Completed my 2026 survey. Put down Super Furry Animals as my most wanted for next year but suspect the moment has gone for that. Popped a big shopping list in the box for who else you would like to see. 🙂
    • Blink-182 / Avril Lavigne / Good Charlotte / Neck Deep    Lamb of God / Malevolence      System Of A Down / Five Finger Death Punch / Skindred / Godsmack   Motionless In White / Poppy      Deftones / Gojira / Knocked Loose / President    Sabaton / Amon Amarth
