  1. It's £200 for the cheapest Manchester tickets. I love the woman however she can get to f**k at those prices. I saw her as part of the full Fleetwood Mac lineup not that many years ago in Birmingham and the ticket prices were absolutely fine, must have been about £50 I reckon. What the hell has happened?? Gotta hope she comes to the festival now, im going to feel so smug if she does.
  2. Yeah you could have a mix of stuff, maybe some Cirque de Soleil type performances as well. A big mad variety type show going on from 6pm to midnight.
  3. Yeah looks like someone jumped the gun. Glad as I could have been roped into working that madness. Rumours abound it's actually going to be Pyramid. Years ago they had the footy on the main stage on the Wednesday, they must have got special clearance for that, maybe the powers at be have knocked there heads together and come up with the sensible idea of having a "lesser" headliner on the Pyramid to soak up the crowds. From a H&S perspective it's the most logical solution to the Thursday crushes issue, and they have become a H&S issue.
  4. Oooh these are nice. I'm having this.
  5. That better not be true, Barry and Sofia K are 2 of only a handful I'm arsed about seeing. Honestly this line up just gets worse by the minute.
  6. It's f**king awful, no wonder South Koreans have stopped having kids if that's what they're turning out like.
  7. If I wasn't working it I'd consider sacking it off. As it is I'll wander and have a different type of festival, probably end up having a belter.
  8. Worst lineup I've ever seen. By a distance.

I've actually given it a listen and it's not bad, still struggle to see it as a headliner but I'll just be somewhere else, or on shift.

Everything was perfect, all weekend. Then Faithless knocking it out of the park with that lovely early evening heat still on us and a spectacular sunset. Then Stevie delivers that performance. Watched it from the hill with some of my very best, oldest mates. Just so sweet. Hey ho, I'll stop moaning about the young ones now. Their turn.

Maybe I'm just peeved it doesn't look like Stevie is playing again. The double header Faithless followed by Mr Wonder is possibly my all time Pyramid high. Utter bliss.

Like I said it's about balance, that example would obviously be too far the other way. Portishead, who headlined the other, were close to pure art and however utterly sublime that set was it wouldn't have worked the same on the Pyramid as headliner. Imagine the history of Glastonbury if they stuck on whoever was at the top of the charts as headliner rather than factoring in artistic quality. Glastonbury wouldn't be what it is today if they did. For Glastonbury headliners, artistic quality shouldn't be optional, it should be the central question.

Music is both Art and Entertainment; they are not mutually exclusive. It's about the balance. The best festival headliners have stacks of both, not just one.

f**king hell that's a depressing list. It's all essentially just entertainment rather than music. It has it's place but I wish it wasn't Glastonbury. The greatest festival in the world should strive to be better than that.
  15. Beth Orton was great on the West Holt's early, perfect wake up act. She had a decent crowd and the vibe was lovely. With acts like Beth they can do an intimate late night set for sure however I'm usually looking for something more upbeat. Anyway that was one early set I really appreciated.
  16. The soundbleed from Stonebridge to the Park main stage can be a bit frustrating if there's a quieter act on the main. Dunno if they can turn the decibels down a bit in the afternoon if they know a slower band is on.
  17. The history of the festival means the Left field is still appropriate, if people want to bang on about politics it's a good place for them all to gather. I'm left wing myself but Glastonbury is a good place for me to leave the outside world behind and I avoid all that unless I see something interesting in the Green Futures field. Id say a bit of that does grate me elsewhere, if I'm in other places like the circus/theatre area and an act is trying to get people going by shouting "isn't Boris a fat old c**t" or "Priti Patel is a evil vile c**t" then I'm like, this ain't what I'm in a tent listening to you for, get on with your juggling or what not.
  18. Weyes Blood Hot Chip Fatboy Slim (Levels Friday night)
  19. Weyes Blood added a gig headlining a little festival called Colours on 24th June, that looks like a Glasto warm up.
  20. James Milner > Taylor Swift
  21. They'll do a festival setlist with them on I presume. He's not daft and they will be doing it to boost their pension pots so expect more of the well known ones. Kinda like they are moving this slot away from kitch pop to a more normal slot for an oldie act, opens up so many more possibilities. Viva Roxy Music is one of the best live albums I've ever heard so will defo be along to see this.
  22. For myself if someone has been convicted of sexual assault then I wouldn't go. However convicted means convicted by trial, or admission by the culprit as I stand by one of the bedrocks of any true system of justice and that's innocent until proven guilty. I pay no heed whatsoever to mob rule and the pitchfork waving inclined. Those people are usually as unpleasant as the people they bay against. Now I will allow myself to make my own personal judgement in cases where allegations are open such as this one. My own personal judgement has led me not to go for a last minute ticket however I would make no judgement whatsoever on anybody who does decide to go as I don't believe my own personal judgement is in any way superior to anyone elses, just different. Sometimes I'm right, sometimes I'm wrong and in many cases it takes years for us to find out.
  23. I know he's a cnut but if you are going to make an allegation like that surely you need some evidence? In fact a brief Google search would have shown you that the Smiths last ever show was an Artist's Against Apartheid gig.
  24. So you would happily have had white South African artists at Glastonbury in the 80s who didn't denounce apartheid? There are plenty of Russian artists who have denounced the war, they should be welcomed with open arms, those like Nina who suck on the teat of fascism should be banned forever.
