Not to strike unnecessary fear into everyone but would they cancel the festival if the Queen was to die in the days before?

The suggestion is that's the biggest risk. On our dog walk this morning I did ponder what would happen if she died during the festival ie the Wednesday or Thursday. That must be the most stressful possible thought. How would you get rid of people that are already on site?

I think supply chain personally is up there as a risk vs queen, covid and war, any widespread China lockdowns could be an issue but my thinking its too close from now to be affected by that for this year anyway. I would expect prices to be a bit higher than usual for food and booze though

I'm at 95%, with the 5% obviously a risk of one of those things spilling over

I think they wouldn't bother if we were already there. Logistical nightmare getting everyone gone in those circumstances. Black out the BBC coverage (record it obviously for future weeks) and newspaper coverage and the majority wouldn't even be aware of it.

Honestly the issue was not even on my mind until I clicked on this thread. Hopefully my comment stays lost in the efestivals void but as mentioned the BBC protocols don't fill me with hope that Glastonbury would be allowed to carry on as normal.

Anyway its on as it stands so let's not worry and look forward to it!

Yes staunch republican that I am I would like to think that would be the case but I suspect a lot of performers may pull out for fear of being cancelled for disrespecting her maj. Can you imagine the Daily Mail headlines??

Yes I'd suggest if she dies they just get an animatronic version of her to keep going until after the festival. It just needs to wave so shouldn't be too complicated.

I'm convinced that this is currently the case anyway.

FWIW, If Liz was to die over the festival, I don't think Glasto could or would stop anything.

The BBC may at worst stop filming or most likely, stop showing footage but I can't imagine it actually getting in the way of the festival.

If it's anything like when Jacko went people will be flogging t-shirts there the next day

No chance. Totally unenforceable by authorities, and would kill the festival as well as the Queen.

Didn’t we have a thread on this … ?

We did. I told the story about how I've hated the monarchy since my mum wouldn't let me play football in the street during Diana's funeral.

I was at Glastonbury partying when her maj popped her clogs is a t-shirt I'd be down for but sadly Prince Philip's death taught us that from a media point of view at least it wouldn't be the same. It should be. Really old person dying really shouldn't be remarkable news but that's not the world we live in today.

RIP Queen Elizabeth you would have loved Olivia Rodrigo's set

And a secret resale for her and her entourages tickets.  She’s bound to have at least two tipis booked as well.  Imagine seeing a jewelled crown sticking out from the long drops in the stall next to @crazyfool1 hat.
