Level 5 here nationwide til January 31st...expect that to stretch to middle of Feb as that’s when they plan on completing the vaccination programme in our care homes and our frontline healthcare staff. At the moment, schools pushed back til Jan 11th, but will review.

So no social distancing for April is the same

The basic mistake here is that you are giving credence to anything the albino spunktrumpet vomits out.

There will be no Glastonbury next year, and the over 50's will not be vaccinated until, at earliest , mid summer.

@Lycra based on the above hospital admissions tweet and what you've said, anecdotally do you think this new variant is causing worse illness in people?

I keep hearing "not more deadly" but not a lot about severity of symptoms...

The severity of the symptoms have not changed but we've become a lot better (& wiser) with treatments. and the death rate is much reduced from April/May. It's the sheer volume which is the major problem: we don't have spare beds! One out (home or morgue), one in. We've been briefed to expect it like this until April at the very least. We've also been told not to expect vaccinations to make impact until late spring. To end on a postive note: not lost a patient this week.

So there will still be some restrictions in place after Easter, like I’ve been saying all along.

Parklife might be moving to September - same as Primavera.

I know Emily said no. I know we are holding her to her word, but at what point does it become ‘’Move or no festival”?

Do you think the fest will choose no festival over moved festival?

Parklife moved weeks ago

'Late Spring' by the way is classed as mid May. And the key with this is that, while treatments have vastly improved, and consequently survivability/recovery rates, what is does mean is that stays in hospital, whether ICU or other, have lengthened.

This is where the strain on resources is occurring.

Upvoted for last sentence.

Parklife moved back to September a little while ago.

Hard to compare Primavera as Spain’s vaccination programme is completely different to ours - I might be wrong but I don’t think they’ve even started or are going to for a few weeks?

Still think June is just too early for Glasto. Perhaps they might move to September but I would have thought the sheer number of people involved in that process would have led to a leak by now, so it’s either June or 2022

Spain's programme has started, they also have a much smaller number of people to vaccinate given population size.

And Primavera's site doesn't need to be built with all that entails unlike Glastonbury.

Agree on your conclusions. Feels like festivals will return in July or August.

Same here....if I could join you I would.  We don't even have to talk.

We can now even order through an app too, minimal human interaction. Bliss 😉

My NowTV subscription has stopped working in Spain because of Brexit. Amazon Prime to follow on Thursday.

I know there's worse going on in the world but had been enjoying it in lockdown and thanks for that!

Use a VPN server in UK?
