Overall, I enjoyed it a lot. It was their usual live set they've been playing this year. The play thing was all a joke (unless it forms a part of the video, perhaps?), although they were dressed as characters and there was a pamphlet of each to collect on your way in. They also sometimes took longer than usual between songs too get things right for the recording. There were cameras everywhere - 3 main ones (on a balcony, central on the floor, on stage), plus smaller cameras mounted in various spots, and camcorders given to people in the crowd.

Thursday and Friday nights were both great. Turbines/Pigs in particular on Friday was sublime and it was very clear at all 3 shows that that's most people's favourite of these new songs (mine too). They were technically very good and much more on it than at their ICA show last month, which I left wondering if these 3 gigs would perhaps be it for the band. Emotionally, it didn't quite live up to the Green Man set, but was right up there technically.

I didn't think the Friday matinée show was as good. The sound didn't seem quite right, especially tinny vocals. They also made a few mistakes which you could see they were annoyed with themselves for.

Glad to see they're touring again next year and hopefully they've time to add to their repertoire by then. Perhaps I'm just lucky to have seen it so many times, but I do appreciate some variety in a set which they understandably haven't been able to introduce. Talking of which black midi, New Road at the Windmill tonight should be very very different!

Just to add to my review above, these were the pamphlets for each performance. There's going to be some kind of video/doc/play and maybe a live album (?) in the spring. For me a live album makes perfect sense given these songs were developed live, even more so than the previous material. Gives them the winter break they've got from touring to write new stuff too, rather than spending it recording these.

Well I struggle to believe it, but i fit were to happen it may well beat Mumford and Sons for the worst Pyramid booking ever and potentially set a worrying trend.

All Brixton Academy gigs for the next three months are under threat as their license has been suspended. They’ve already moved a couple to Eventim Apollo. Pendulum at the Apollo will make for a great BBC4 documentary

Fontaines did 3 nights there recently, sure it would be fine

I guess the obvious choice for anyone with 2 nights would be to move to Ally Pally (although could that cause issues due to no seats / wheelchair users etc?). Just pray you don't get moved to the SSE!

They are indeed. Released a great album last year.

I'm not saying he's unknown, clearly he isn't, he's playing a stadium show.

I'm saying I have not heard of him, which for someone playing a stadium show, is a first for me. A worrying first as despite my age, this place keeps me fairly up to date with what is big or isn't in the UK and beyond. Many times I won't have heard someone but I've usually at least heard of them.
