Wow. Their set at Electric Picnic in 2014 remains a festival experience highlight for me.

This gig reminds me of the Tsunami gig in 2005, that seemed to spark them back into life and 3 followed a few years after. I bet MA would be on board if it wasn't for one member being ill.

That gig was fucking mint. Went on the second night after scoring tickets from the Bristol Ticket Office.

Would be lovely to think they're warming up for the following month.

DIIV playing Manchester O2 Ritz 2nd August. Must be other dates around then too.

They have announced on their Discord channel dates at London Koko, Brighton Chalk, and Nottingham iirc. I signed up to have a look but deleted the account again now.

Ah, showing on their website now https://diiv.net/shows  Bristol too.

‘A few songs’ - doesn’t sound like a full on set, sadly.

I think they all will only play 2-3 songs with that big a line up! The 2005 tsunami gig they only played maybe 4-5 and that was just them & MA.  I guess its more the hope they might either tour again or get in studio to pay for Geoff's retirement in Greece!

The event runs from 12pm-11pm so plenty of time! The last charity thing he organised was Beak> and Idles so probably felt the need to mix it up a bit, and Portishead will be a bigger draw even if it is a handful of songs.

Would love for this to be the start of something bigger though!

ticket snagged earlier today for Dave Longstreth at the Barbican . It seems to be an evening of new music performed by him and stargaze, and some Dirty Projectors stuff just for good measure. seeing the group at Village Underground was a live highlight of whatever-year-that-was

What's wrong with Bath?

Well I have been there now (Sarah Millican). Was fine, seats are ok and like any theatre, must ask my friend why they had issues. All seated though, maybe not the very front. Not sure how that would work with some bands

    • Audrey Hobert getting a lot of traction lately and new single on Friday. Wonder if she could be round next summer.
    • Think Pulp are optimistic, not in terms of size but just that they've been on the road (albeit not intensively) for 3 years in a row and it feels like EotR is the deliberate end of the cycle.   Would be fairly surprised if they're active next year.
    • 👍 plus they brought their own screens 📺 either side of the stage.
    • Production was the only thing that could even explain why she would back out. Like they had sorted out the financials and she was fine with it and then a production meeting happened. It all fell apart. It was very clear that she was not going to compromise her show one bit and then that show in Brazil pretty much confirmed it. There was like one element they couldnt pull off outdoors, but it was negligible since the rest was a carbon copy of the tour she had been on. Glasto is not willing to make any bold changes on the Pyramid stage so then theyre kinda stuck in terms of what some acts want/demand. I think the easiest solution to that is putting her on Friday. You deal with the changes for one night and then re configure for the rest of the weekend. In 24 they were fortunate to have had Dua and Coldplay on Fri and Sat so they could both use the b stage. But I think it was removed for Sunday?     I saw a random rag article earlier that said Olivia Dean turned down Glasto BECAUSE her ex ( not even confirmed dating ) Harry Styles was playing the fest. hahahaha
    • No argument that he’s bigger than ever, I just have no enthusiasm for it.
