Few weeks ago I saw a bit of Graham Norton and almost cofused him with Barry Manilow. What's he done with/to his face? Other than that: yeah, don't really like him.

I'm sure he's gutted

Although FATM did, Emily stated that she could but isn't.

Yeah I did think of FATM, and it is a fair point they were advertised as subs, but discounted them as ended up headlining anyway.

Overall, as a group, we are collectively overly optimistic about who they can get to play lower slots.

Like Lars Ulrich, Lily Allen and the bloke off of Homes Under The Hammer, Cooper's one one of us.

I saw the fella off Homes under the Hammer standing outside an old caravan on the slopes of E21... well, I didn't see first off. he was on the phone "mate, where is the awning..??".. I had to stop in my tracks... 'I know that voice..!!'

He found the awning. Phew.

Even whackier, there was talk that Muse would sub with an "experimental" show.

Orchestral BHAR anniversary show ffs.

Actually would have been so much better than what they actually did.

Wish they hadn't played in 2016 so they could headline next year and play Propaganda on the Pyramid.

Strange order and some weird choices which will never make it onto a festival set.

Their current festival set works...;

  • The Man
  • Somebody Told Me
  • Spaceman
  • The Way It Was
  • Shot at the Night
  • Run for Cover
  • Smile Like You Mean It
  • For Reasons Unknown
  • A Dustland Fairytale
  • Runaways
  • Read My Mind
  • All These Things That I've Done
  • When You Were Young

Encore:

  • The Calling
  • Human
  • Mr. Brightside

They'll be great in june..

The Killers would run the Banjo Botherers close in the quest to find the least inspiring booking of 2019.

Has it ever gone the other way - someone who lots tipped to headline but took a lesser slot (not counting 'secret' sets)? I can't think of one.

Don't think anyone had them down as in the running for headliner but Biffy Clyro subbed in 2017 when they were arguably headliner size

At a festival of Glastonburys size I don't think they were headline size and they were on the fact of material very much not upto scratch, imo anyway. That doesn't detract from my view that show wise they were better than Ed on the night....he needed a set of backing people like Beyonce did as it's a crazy stage to do alone. On top of that setlist wise wasn't as good as it could have been.

If they return with a similar album to Opposites there is a chance they could be given the bump and I think they would put a show on for it.

Agreed. Which is the main reason for me thinking it isnt going to happen. I dont think itll be mumford or florence because it will be then 3/3 returning headliners. I think we're gunna end up getting something I wont like, i.e the 1975 or Pink

I’m all for Mumford and Florence, but the main reason is just because I haven’t seen them live yet.

and to be fair, from all predictions, I’m not interested in any headliners as of yet, hopefully it’ll change!

If it doesn’t, more reasons to explore for me instead of being stuck in Pyramid Stage for the whole festival.

Not been on here for a while(still sulking about lack of tickets?) are macca and the cure nailed on or are we just guessing?

Elton john, Bon jovi and Spice girls.

not really.....cure and Macca are glued on, not quite nailed yet.

So when I saw them headlining Monsters Of Rock in 1981 and again in 1991 they weren't actually playing a festival?

You know what I mean, they rarely play festivals.

Cooper gets a thumbs up for being a good egg when my mates approached him when they were stotting drunk up the SE end around 4am.

Running into Bradley Cooper at 4am in the SE Corner is a dream that I didn't even know existed until just now :)

I am definitely not understanding the comments about him being either a) annoying or b) having a weird manilow-esque face. Granted, he does look better when he's a bit more dishevelled and less clean-cut, but then, so do most men....

Case in point being my profile pic!

Although Mrs Woffy wouldn't agree I don't think: she was firmly in the camp swooning over BC and Gerard Butler in the Wimbledon crowd that time: "Oooo, hello!"

Anyhoo:

Cure / Macca / Gaga

To be fair I've only seen her once, headlining Bestival in 2012, and I thought she was a bit dull. She could easily have improved since then.

I saw her in Sept at a festival and could watch her again in a heartbeat. To me shes a true performer and mesmerizing.

I think you may have taken dishevelled a little too far with that profile pic, but I am no expert..

*I agree with this but it gives me the problem of wanting to see 3 Pyramid headliners... Not good.

It's the hair, isn't it? Needs a brush?

If it ends up being Cure / Macca / Gaga, then I'm going to pick one.

And that one will be Gaga.

Caveats:

Mini Woffy will be with us and i'm not making her sit through the Cure or Macca.

I had my fill of chin stroking at the Pyramid last year with The National /  Radiohead.

I've convinced myself Hot Chip will now be headlining elsewhere (hopefully Fri / Sat).

I want to spend more time at WH.

My daughter has never rung her Mum at Glastonbury and said.. "Its Dad, he is totally dishevelled and trying to buy everyone chips at the Hippy Chippy.."

I am dreaming of Hot Chip headlining WH on Friday again...I really think I should see Macca (never have) and Gaga would give it a proper go.. The Cure will have to do one.

Don't blame her! Would have to avoid Cooper if he was on any kind of stage lest I be accused of objectifying a serious artist. And we obviously wouldn't want that now, would we...

 Love how this is in bold and underlined

R.E. Cure/Macca/Gaga - I'm kind of ok with that. Don't give two hoots about missing the Cure or Macca, and will probably actively avoid the latter. Suspect a lot of my crew may go to Macca but I usually find enough ways to entertain myself/people to bumble about with so I don't see it being a problem. As for Gaga, may be convinced if enough people are going as it'll probs be hella entertaining but equally ok missing it if she clashes with someone I or enough of my crew care about. In general though, I think it would be a reasonably well-rounded trio

Her mum would say "Why is he eating chips instead of watching Hot Chip?"

I'm neither convinced nor dissuaded by any of those three.  I'm desperately hoping for there to either be (a) a completely unexpected headliner that blows my socks off, or (b) alternatives on other stages that do the same.

Gaga's probably at the top of the list in terms of what I'd actively want to see, but that's as much for the spectacle as anything else. Like the Cure but have no great history with them other than radio tracks, and I still just don't know about Macca.

    • Another one from Sheffield DocFest this weekend, Earth Wind & Fire docu, directed by Questlove. Sensational archive footage, contributions from band members, family, plus a lot of very big fans (Stevie, Lionel, Flea, the Obamas) and a warts n all assessment of the genius / flawed human being that was Maurice White. Also, I never realised he started out as a jazz drummer with Ramsay Lewis. Well worth a watch.
