Hang on,

Just to confirm is an actual announcement expected today or?

Not sure.... However the last couple of years we have known 2 of the 3 headliners by February. All 3 by first week or two in March.

Expect something in the next week or two for sure.

Glastonbury 2019, featuring the headliners from all your favourite midsized festivals such as Wireless, Latitude and Bestival.

This is what happens when you put all your eggs in one McCartney shaped basket.

The Cure and The Killers were big for those festivals though. Would’ve been delusional to think either were no longer Glasto headline status.

Besides, these are acts that headline festivals everywhere. Glastonbury operates on a low budget and does very well to get the acts it does. Can’t whinge when there aren’t any legendary acts or stadium headliners available and willing to throw in a cheap gig for the title of Glastonbury headliner in a given year.

The Killers ain’t the greatest but I’m sure Liam Gallagher (also a festival headliner) topping the bill was not much further down the list. Be thankful!

Does anyone know the likeliness of the Chems playing?

This undercard needs to be a belter

They were on 6 the other day and when asked they said it could be happening. And they are playing the Eden Project on the Friday night.

very strong

What I'm hoping for is Chems headlining Other, Thom Yorke or Low headlining Park and then Foals or Tame Impala (unlikely) Headlining Other. Imo that would be strong - I bloody hate having f all to see in the headline splot dunno why

I think the Killers are great always a good show..... However...... I think they stalk me and have headlined festivals ive been to countless times now... including last year at IOW.. I would rather someone else have a chance

The “be thankful” stuff never sat well with me. After a fallow year the fest should have done better, soz.

I wouldn’t say it’s about being thankful, more “who else could they have got?”. They have a set fee and they can make offers but if The Mac and Macca don’t want to do it then what else can they do?

Upping the fee would set a dangerous precedent and change Glastonbury away from what makes it great into being money and headliner-focussed. Not worth it when we can just go to one of the many other stages.

    • RIP Roy Hattersley
    • Proper special gig tonight. They won't mean much to most people, but The Dogs D'Amour were one of the most significant bands of my youth.   Tyla, yer main man of said band, was playing in Birkenhead tonight. Not many there, but it was going fine. Then he decided he didn't like the smoke and the flashing lights so suggested moving the gig to the beer garden. Off we all went, and it was magical. Like having your favourite musician play in your garden. I absolutely loved it.   Before:     After:
