2019 Headliners

If The Strokes get announced for APE, can they really go onto headline? or is it firmly one or the other?

They would do well to sell it out at £70(approx), and I can't see the Glastonbury lineup being any later than late March this year, so that affects them being able to shift tix, which APE would not sign up for… surely.

Nick Cave, Catfish, Christine, The National, The XX… all sub-headline level acts for Pyramid really

I was just thinking the same thing. Also it makes The Strokes playing Glasto a bit less special (to me at least) if they're playing other UK dates..

I think sub-headline would be generous for Catfish but I suppose they have a new album out in April so more material for a longer set. Plus they've played Other a couple of times now so makes sense I guess. I'd go see that set anyway so no complaints from me.

Is Gaga's Enigma show a lift and shift production that would be doable somewhere else or is it very intricate / site-specific?  Cos there isnt the time to rustle up something unique for the G.

Lift and shift is debatable. Show is on a fans YouTube

I mean as far as I know Tame Impala are headlining every festival they're playing on the planet this year, aren't they? You're going to have to pull out some shenanigans with single sales or whatever to say they they're not at least bigger than Stormzy. They've admittedly not made the jump over here yet but with another album coming you'd think it's only a matter of time.

Have we completely ruled out the chance of a return from Neil Young?

In the country the following week, as far as I can tell isn't exclusive to pseudo-BST, has been 10 years since he last did it, and above all would be an infinitely better option than The Strokes.

    • When are  the stage splits ??
    • 13th Primavera (Thursday was definitely making me feel like this was the cursed year).  Blood Orange was such a party by the end of their set but we all knew that rain storm was approaching.  So gutted Massive Attack didn't play after the false hope of a new rescheduling, especially knowing that Elizabeth Fraser & Horace Andy were backstage with them!  Managed a bit of Melt Banana but was just so over the weather by that point.   Friday was awesome, Rilo Kiley were so much fun.  Never been the biggest Cure fan but made the effort for them after Thursday & Robert Smith sounds like he did back in the 80s.  PinkPantheress & Viagra Boys were also great.   The highlight for me was Sudan Archives on the Saturday, she was stunning & with the Olivia Rodrigo surprise set too it made up for the Thursday sh*t show.  Dijon & Knocked Loose also superb.   Shoutout to Cardiacs on the Tuesday too, they were so LOUD, played a storming set.
    • OK, never mind, I'll take normal Nine Inch Nails.
    • Probably my least favourite of the five editions I've been to, but still plenty good enough for me to go again. Weirdly, I was just totally running out of stamina a lot earlier into the night than I remember happening in the past. I feel like I missed a lot of the weirder sets on the smaller stages as I was just totally cooked. Not Primavera's fault, obviously. Maybe I'm just getting old - or maybe I need to pace my drinking better...   Anyway - is David Byrne a realistic get for next year? Certainly hoping so.
    • watching clips of the cure in Barcelona, wow 2 hours 25 minute set. That's gonna be tough on the Sunday but can't bloody wait for it
