2019 Headliners

I think it's reasonable to assume that his US tour is a priority, and that while it's going on, he'd be happy to do Glastonbury if he can do it - but that if it becomes an issue, he'd give priority to the part of the world he's in right now (knowing that realistically, he could headline any year he likes). So my working theory is that if he's pulled out or put it back by a year, it's probably either because of extra dates State-side, or a realisation that he doesn't especially want to come all the way back home for a festival.

He's also huge enough that if he did play 2020, nobody would bat an eyelid. It doesn't come much bigger.

Three UK arena dates is pretty much the norm for what he does on each album.

True but he hasn't done many dates here for a while (it seems to me he has played elsewhere a lot more in recent years?). It feels like there's more interest in him maybe because of the various 50 year commemorations etc. Just would expect something else next summer but who knows...

Why do people keep avoiding referring to @Brave Sir Robin by name? He's not a mystery dude on the Glasto boards.

When I was posting about him yesterday I actually couldn't remember who it was and couldn't be arsed to look. Referred to him as Mr BST Hints today so people knew it was the guy I was on about yesterday.

Apologies @Brave Sir Robin.

Is Madonna 100% out of the equation? She has a new album coming in 2019 and it'd make a ton of sense for her to headline...

It would but it appears her asking price is millions higher than what Glastonbury would be willing to pay

Stormzy, The Cure and Lady Gaga would be very strange headliners and I highly doubt the GP would lap that up.

i guess resale will be a walk in the park right?.... RIGHT?

also Lady Gaga being the biggest act on the lineup considering her career (before a star is born) is pretty mad. She was meant to be on a decline!

Yes I would. Stop telling me what I want.

One thing that makes me think it’s not Gaga though is that Emily said about a ‘couple of blokes’ thing and if Gaga was headlining I would have thought she may have referenced or at least hinted the female headliner?

Also it hardly fits with the twitter random saying it’s someone you’d never guess/it being a shock. Lady Gaga seems to be linked every year and her stock is really high right now

It depends whether the twitter user is a petitioner or not.

She comes across as sound enough. I don’t think she’s lying on anything either, just whether the info is legit or not (as most ends up being Chinese whispers even in good faith)

    • It's funny that Burnham says all this stupid corbynite or blue labour or blairite or whatever sh*t but still everyone wants him because he's a proper northern lad who wears t-shirts and there's no way can have Streeting because he's apparently a massive transphobic zionist in the payroll of private health companies and palantir even if he is maybe actually offering what many liberal lefties would prefer but he can't be trusted, I mean..look at him.
    • Burnham has hinted he supports compensation for waspi women...err...so that's nice.....
    • Chelsea, 10 years of cheating, dodgy agent payments, breaking financial rules, etc: £10m deferred fine, no points reduction   Everton, 1 year of narrowly breaking financial rules: £40m payment, due immediately, having already been docked 10 points (reduced on appeal).
