Well the conclusion of that thinking would be to book tribute bands across the board, save a load of money, and we've have a "dream" line-up of Bootleg Beatles, Counterfeit Stones, Australian Pink Floyd, Jason Bonham's Led Zeppelin Experience, Zappa Plays Zappa, etc. etc.

Glastonbudget festival already exists.

The story about Sacha Baron Cohen leaving Bohemian Rhapsody is quite funny, the band supposedly wanted the film to be about how they carried on after Freddie’s death and not about Freddie himself.

Read that Sacha Baron Cohen wanted to do scenes with Freddie walking round parties with plates of cocaine on his head but the band were less keen.

They're not though. They're a weird hybrid that's neither one thing nor t'other. I dunno if they're headliners either, but the setlist is goddamn formidable.

It speaks so much for how incredible a frontman Freddie was and ultimately irreplaceable that not even Queen themselves felt able to go round calling themselves Queen after his era in the band. Plenty of other bands have had members die and then came back with a new line up and kept the original band name. They're not a tribute band, that's a disservice to Brian May and Roger Taylor to call them that but somehow they aren't queen.

They're no more Queen than New Order are Joy Division.

RE: Queen.

Not Queen without Freddie. If you lose the lead singer then the band is not the band. It's some of the original members plus a new singer

Slade without Noddy, Oasis without Liam, Blur without Damion.

I'd even argue it's not Queen if they had Fred but lost May. Like GnR were not GnR without Slash.

The cure's show in glasgow is being promoted on facebook as being:

"The Cure's only announced UK show of 2019"

Whether that means something is in the pipeline and is tba later or they just havent decided if they are doing any more UK shows yet is up for debate, but I thought the wording was curious.

The word "announced" suggests there's more to come and they're waiting to sell Glasgow out before announcing anything further.

marketing people have to come up with something, else they'd be pointless people. :P

It's an extra way to try and sell the show until others are announced, with the extra hope that people will slightly misread it as the only show they'll be doing.

    • The rumour was uk arena tour late this year.  Same as Charli xcx cant be announced until Reading headline is done.
    • Latest from the sun at least is that harry is still headlining but Olivia has turned down a spot next year to work on new music and hope for 2028.   So they can't have Fender, Fontaines, Harry, Olivia and Madonna.
    • I mean I don't think EC and FFDP are borderline sub, they wouldn't be any lower now.   2025 is about as strong as Bloodstock gets yet this year only one headline would sub and the others would play 3rd down or lower.    Machine Head wouldn't sub at Download regardless of rarity, they don't sell enough tickets and I'm not sure Gojira would sub either. Their last UK tour was a mix of smaller arenas and academy dates. Ally Pally being the only London date, not even Wembley Arena.
    • live music / main stage will generally end around 11pm but theres dj’s and late goings on right till 4am if you are so inclined.   Drinks are about £7.50 a pint probably and yes theres lots of mixed drinks / spirits / cocktails available to buy   wonderful festival, back for my third year in a row and 4th overall
    • If anyone sees Lakefest this weekend on any sites please post here, I’ve got alerts set. Been on TFG in recent years and not sold out yet.
