Yeah I agree with that. I love them and both times I've seen them (Leeds Fest 2012 and Wembley Arena 2016) I wished they could have kept playing despite doing 2.5 hours 32 songs each time, but at Glastonbury I think they'd be better off shaving half an hour from that and cutting some of the less festival-friendly tracks.

Said the other day, the hits plus the goodies like Plainsong and From the Edge of the Deep Green Sea and I'm golden.

Plainsong can get in the (Deep Green) Sea.  That's not a festival track.

The more I've been listening to their greatest hits over the last few days, the more I'm getting onboard with the idea.  I genuinely have no idea why I never listened to them before, was never a conscious decision to avoid them!

yeah, Plainsong then straight into something like High or even In Between Days is a solid festival opener imo

Surely there's zero chance of a Madonna/Cure/McCartney trio? Maybe one of them at most...

And I like all of those artists individually too, but I just can't see Glastonbury having three "senior" artists as headliners and completely avoiding a younger headliner. Not after all that has been said in the past about promoting new artists to the bigger stage etc

If they've managed to wrangle both Madge and Macca they're not going to turn around and tell them sorry, we've promised that slot to Royal Blood.

Especially because Drenge are more deserving of that slot than Royal Blood, by virtue of their second album not being an utter pap remake of the first.

Yeah true enough - At least not all three though... Even the unsubstantiated rumour alone sounds terrible... Not quite as bad as the idea of Royal Bloody headlining though.

One of our group was in the GnR melee and woke up in the the medical tent (fortunately for him). I wasn't aware how serious it all was until an announcement was made as it finished.

Yeah, I had no clue until the end either. I was in that G'n'R crowd, jumping up and down, having a whale of a time. I was over to the right of the stage though and it looked like the real problem was on the left.

This list looks impressive or at least much better to any fan but for me it just shows that the problem wasn't their choice of songs to play but actually the time they were given. If they were to play a regular 75 minutes sub set they could have add another 3 songs (lets say Don't Swallow the Cap, Abel and Mistaken For Strangers - the missing song froms this list) and Voila! We would say and feel much different about that set. In short, I blame you Mr. Grohl.

He's never played before, and probably with good reason: His material doesn't really fit the ethos of the festival, is notoriously pretty shite live/raps over a backing track, and would also cost more than Glastonbury could afford/be willing to pay. Probably just pop up at Reading/Leeds every couple of years, or possibly Wireless.
