I think Overflow's a great song but the rest just kind of plods along and while it's not bad and overall a decent album, there's just nothing exciting going on. I do think the songs came alive a bit more as a live performance (obviously). Certainly felt more energetic.

I know I recommended it to Quark but I thought he'd like it and I was right. It has no right being 52 minutes long either, but it's definitely the sort of synthy arena rock thing I like so I'd like to see them grow and get better. The album's had a few listen but I've certainly not made it to the end every time.

st dan
I'm finding myself rather enjoying this after hearing it on Radio One the other night whilst flicking through the stations in my car: Dont know much about them - debut album not out yet but - they remind me very much of Late of the Pier from back in the day! kingcrawler
Listened to the new Circa Waves album twice now and can't say I'm too into it. I'm not a huge fan by any means but I thought their debut was a solid effort and that they were really good at what they did. They've changed up the sound on this new one a bit though, half of it seems to be going for an Homme influenced Arctic Monkeys sound and the other half is the same idea as their debut but without the jangle. It's not a bad album and I'll stick with it but on the whole it just lacks the charm and the fun that their debut had.
CaledonianGonzo
New Ondatropica is warming up a cold morning. Todos bangers, nada clangers.
jyoung
Laura Marling, Charli XCX and Circa Waves all downloaded for todays commute to and from work. Very much looking forward to giving Marling's new one a spin.

Big fan of theirs, and I had fairly low hopes because of one or two of the singles, but it's much better than I expected. 7.5/10 overall from me, which seems to be in line with the reviews so far. I confused the shins with someone else and listened to this earlier. Any recommendations from the back catalogue?

The links are all up, but none of them seem to actually lead to a song. Nothing on YouTube either as far as I can see. http://smarturl.it/psbprogress Working Spotify link. I like the change in sound and think Wake Up is a great song but the album does drag in the middle, it could still do pretty well though. The Laura Marling album is quite lovely, great production. If I'm feeling brave later on I might give the magnetic fields one a go.

I wasn't too sure about Wake Up and Fire That Burns at first but both really grew on me, hoping the album does the same but it feels like the songs just aren't as good as those two. Going to give the Laura Marling one a listen today as well as hopefully Cameron Avery and The Shins.

bunfight
Going to see Oranj Son for the second time (first in Manchester) in a few weeks. Couple of singles out and some belters on their soundcloud. Noticed they are on (low down) the Liverpool sound City line up too. Got a mate who saw them at Edge Hill uni a few weeks ago - said they were 'intensely watchable'. Whatever that means.

Simpo
A new Soulwax song! Featuring Victoria Smith from Jamie T's band on drums, Blake Davies from Turbowolf on drums, and Iggor Cavalera, yes, from Sepultura on, yes, drums. And his wife Laima apparently. (Not on drums) Last tickets for their Manchester gig on sale atm, and a just announced 2manydjs show across the road straight after. And I'm off work the day after. Really need more of my friends to become fans of all things Soulwax! I hope they play somewhere with good sound at Glastonbury.

Mardy
New ep by Rolling Blackout Coastal Fever. It's an absolute beaut. I'm new to this band but they're the best thing I've found in ages. The latest in a long line of genius Australian indie pop. The Go-Betweens, Ariel Maps, Modern Giant, the Lucksmiths. That sort of thing. Anyway this is a fucking cracker.
