Id agree with you, but his statement seems to be absolutely definate. I know hes a wind up merchant/billy bullshitter but it seems it would be a complete backtrack which is odd. There was no ambiguity at all in his words. Im suprised as I assumed he be a dead cert to play this year, given he was so public about wanting it last year, and hes still touring the album this year.

There is of course the suggestion that's been said that the festival aren't interested in booking him, he does have previous of going in hard slating Glasto before. I'll give it a listen but I guess he could have just said well I'll be there so who knows which wouldn't confirm him. If not then it certainly opens up a change in thought for sub. Where does Glasto come in to it?, I imagined it would be in the Jo Wiley interview?

It's in his interview with Simon Mayo. Festivals were mentioned and Noel just said straight up that he wasn't playing Glastonbury.

Did he say he was doing festivals within that? I thought this summer he'd be subbing all the festivals that wouldn't have him headline this year but maybe if he's flat out not doing Glasto then he's got another headline slot lined up somewhere that pushes a Glasto sub slot out.

That sounds pretty final. I wouldn't expect him to play many this year anyway. This year was obviously the main year with his album release. Possible headliner for V? Doesn't seem any rumours for IOW with him this year. Not sure if TITP would go as far as a repeat headliner.

Noel isn't in the big band anymore, and the stuff he's done solo isn't as good.

Foo Fighters sold out Wembley twice (160,000+) in minutes; there are still tickets available for Noel's show at the Royal Albert Hall (5,000) on Thursday night (not very good tickets but tickets nonetheless).

I agree with your comments on the Foo Fighters, but you can't use that as criticism to compare to Noel, a man who made his name ripping off grooves from 20 years before and inserting swagger, and hasn't even managed to do that well for as long as the Foo Fighters have existed. I like Oasis, but songwriting wasn't their strong suit. And I think even Dave Grohl's one shit song from all Foos' albums is better than Noel's one shit song from his solo albums.

The real brains behind Oasis was drugs and a serious case of right place right time.

Oasis talked a lot about wanting to be bigger than The Beatles in their early interviews, looked a bit like them and dropped a few of their song titles into their lyrics but I don't think they ripped off any of their songs or took inspiration from their desire to push musical boundaries.

Noel's solo stuff doesn't merit a headline slot. Dave Grohl wouldnt headline Glastonbury on the back of two good but not great solo albums. If Oasis reunited then Glastonbury would be desperate to get them, but Noel doesn't merit it of the back of 2 solo albums.

I actually gave be here now a play last night for the first time in many moons. Having seen liam live with beady eye a few years ago I wouldn't want to see oasis now, I'm sure it would be as ropey as I imagine. id still go see Noel @ a festy just for nostalgia

I went to a foos gig at MK bowl, Dave grohl & do put on a good show for a non fan, and will go down a storm at glasto when they do do it 

But my 11 year old daughter still plays guitar far better than any of them
