Because she subbed them and that's a big novelty, so they played on it?

Edit: I'm assuming you're talking about the Big Weekend set?

Sorta. I thought they went a bit OTT on it at Big Weekend and it ended up sounding like they were taking the piss a bit, then they dedicated Congregation to her last night, apparently?

Maybe they're friends with her. Isn't Dave friends with everybody and isn't Taylor friends with everybody?

Just had a Talking Heads session on the way to work this morning. They're my number one (vaguely realistic) dream headliner from now on.

then also check out the following albums (says the Heads obsessive)...

David Byrne - The Catherine Wheel

David Byrne/Brian Eno - my life in the bush of ghosts.

King Crimson - Discipline

If you're a bit leftfield in your tastes, also try Byrne's "music from the knee plays" ... tho you might find that one a bit hard going if you're not liking Byrne's more-standard ("americana") solo stuff.

And I do hope you've found yourself the best TH platter, which is the original (vinyl) version of The Name Of This Band Is Talking Heads - it's available on CD but with extra tracks added which actually makes it a worse album because it doesn't flow.

</here endeth today's lesson :D>

Didn't even spot this - thanks Neil. I've heard a good few of these but some or new to me and some I need to give more of a listen.

Do you think there's a chance of them ever headlining? Or would you think it's a lost cause?

from what i've heard (including privately from someone who knows some of them well) I think it's unlikely. It's not something I'm ever expecting to happen.

But you never know I guess, people are said to mellow with age, and i'm referring back to stuff from over ten years ago.

    • some point this week the insta post says
    • I guess we should also not underestimate that the Slowdive sound person is probably not quite used to open-air daytime performances in such a large, open area. 🙂 I imagine it's very different from mixing the sound in a tent. Plus, even though I was openminded about it at first - you never know how things might sound or work out in a different setting if you don't try - I just don't think their sound is very suited for this kind of setting, it really benefits from darkness and a nice light show and all that. Still, nice that they got to give it a try.
    • i agree, was really disappointed by the Slowdive sound (we were fairly close to the podium) also if you consider that for all other main stage acts i saw they got it perfectly right.
    • Thanks man for sharing your thoughts. I would say i generally agree with you and do agree people close to the podium should position themselves further back if they want to have full conversations and apparently are not interested in the music; to fair it is mind boggling these people are even there as chatting gets so much easier in the back field. That said i did not really have the same experience as you, front rows for example at MBV, Men I trust, Big Thief, NewDad, Slowdive, where really into the music.    yes i BBK is really high on our list but we just realized it is next year 25 years of Primavera so perhaps we do one more.
    • When does the Thursday lineup get announced? I see they had Moonchild Sanelly and Young Knives last year, would be cool to get something along those lines again.
