So shall we catalog things we obsessed over the last few months which turned out to be rubbish? Just to give us some sanity for next year's headline predictions. Add you own..

"He is British but his band isn't.."

"It's going to be two British bands - most likely" (Referring to the madness about a super group. I guess Michael wasn't 100% lying if you count The Who and then Paul Weller as two British bands)

"Chris Martin is involved with the upcoming announcement"

Cheers for those Michael

+ Comments from Emily about supporting new talent in headlining.

+ Whatever happened with Coldplay. Maybe the Chris Martin + Coldplay stuff is all linked to the juicy story Neil is sat on.

What have I missed? This 1800 pages is a blur.

There was some suggestion about supporting female acts too - now we have one female sub, fronting an all/mostly male band. No women in the Other headliners either.

I feel like Neil and/or Scottie are getting leaks today. Almost like something might happen. But surely not two announcements in one day

I think they'll wait until the news regarding the who has quietened down before announcing anything else.

19th, 20th or 21st would be my guess.

I think they were just moved from Pyramid to unknown stage as there's not anywhere left on the Pyramid for them to play

Ah makes sense. Thought they weren't on at all.

It'll be because Neil thinks they maybe playing. Or is that too obvious an answer?

Yes :P

wasn't this just a thought by Neil?

i don't recall anything from Emily or anyone else about female acts specifically.

the thing about Paul weller (much like Morrissey), is that if he picked the correct setlist he would be a fantastic main stage booking...he has tremendous tunes from the jam, style council and his solo stuff to pick from...(I've seen him several times over the years, and he always played great gigs, haven't bothered the last 6/7 years to go see him, incidentally when he's now started playing the Jam stuff again, due to the ticket price and secondly his later albums weren't doing anything for me anymore.

if he were to play a career retrospective with maybe only a couple tracks from his last couple albums, I think he will be very good / well received act on the pyramid on the sunday (he will definitely be up for it im sure...another career comeback in the making this could prove to be)

Shame in the wrong mood he can be a self indulgent shite

i thought that Neil had had some kind of info / discussion that led him to believe this was the case, rather than it being speculation on his part. i'm sure when the running order is announced we'll have a better gage on whether it proved to be correct or not - from the lineup i can see Flo, Mary J Blige, Courtney Barnett and Paloma Faith as all definites for the Pyramid, and a few others who may be there as well, along with whoever's added. definitely doesn't look to be the female-tastic lineup we were expecting but it may have more than usual

A thought by Neil, but based on what Emily said in her interview with Scottie. Not as clear cut as the other stuff, sure, but it seemed like a bit of a hint. I guess I'm as guilty as the next efester of readding waaay too much into what the Eavii come out with!

I find the quote from John Giddings about 'not being able to one up Glastonbury' quite peculiar now we know all 3 headliners.

How come Foals have popped up on the rumours page today?

I got ever so slightly excited when I saw this before thinking about it, I'm still clinging onto slight hope, even though it must be looking terribly unlikely

I don't. I never understood why people automatically assumed that he knew who all 3 Glastonbury headliners were. It was clear within a couple of weeks that it was just a generic offhand statement, yet people continued to cling to it.

Logic dictates that if the names were being circulated widely enough within the industry that he knew who they were, the rumours would have reached efestivals and/or other parts of the press pretty quickly..

Gidding's comment is still true though .. No question (in many people's eyes) that IoW have trumped Gladtonbury this year in terms of headliners - but they can book whoever they want and it'll never come close to Glastonbury. And he knows it. Hence the comment.

That Weller was only announced for the festival in Holland on March 16 shows how much of a late rush job this has been by Glastonbury.

Hmmm interesting.

But if they've been fannying around waiting for Prince to decide if he can be arsed playing .. Then I have little sympathy for them. Hopefully they learn their lesson and get it all sorted earlier next time. The Who are a great booking this late in the day, given the circumstances.

I didn't even know where to post this, it's not relevant to anything

But Bloc Party just changed their profile picture on FB to an image just saying Bloc Party, I hope something is going down

Not too late to book them and out paul Weller yeah?

    • but it is loyalists doing the rioting...so he can also make a point there.
    • I don’t know what was going on with SEE tickets for Phoebe Bridgers this morning.. I had a presale code, got into the sale after queuing for 15mins with the green bars of doom.. but no map to choose seats from, just categories like “aisle seat” and “reserved seat” and sometimes a drop down of the section, but you had no idea where in the section the seat was… then you clicked through and either got “no tickets available” or a captcha which just kept looping no matter how well you selected the thing it was asking you to identify.. then eventually it spat you out to another “not enough tickets available” message.. I went through that loop SO many times.. I was doing captchas endlessly.. it was totally borked.    in the end I went back to the email with the presale code in, it then directed me to ticketmaster rather than see, still for Manchester, and I could then see the tickets on the map .. get them in my basket etc ..but there was only upper tier left.. so going to try my luck on ticketmaster for the main sale.. SEE was total garbage!
