This may have been mentioned already, probably has.. but, are self-inflating mats worth the investment? And if they are, where's the best option to get one at the moment?

Very much so. I have a thermarest - not the cheapest brand but one of the best quality and a very good nights sleep.

I’ve got this one https://www.thermarest.com/mattresses/trail-lite

Are self inflating mats good? I've always used an airbed, but wouldn't mind that reduction in bulk

I don't like them.  I had a bog-standard thin-ish Thermarest one many years ago and I found (1) I got dead arms and sore hips because it didn't have enough give (2) It was quite bulky when packed away and (3) it eventually delaminated inside which meant a beach-ball sized air-bubble appeared in the middle of it, on the crease where you folded it.

For Glastonbury, I use a full -sized double airbed, with sheet, pillows, duvet etc. - but I have an easier arrival than most.  When I need to pack light, I use one of the inflatable mats which has loads of ribs.  My posh one (Thermarest Neo Air) cost megabucks, but I also bought a Crivit one from Lidl and that's been excellent and only cost me £12 after a 30% reduction.  I find they're much comfier than a self-inflating mat and pack down into a ridiculously tiny bag.

In what way is it better than an airbed, comfier? I have a bad back and roll mats aren’t enough for me, but our double air bed is a bit bulky.

It's difficult to put into words really, I just find them firmer and flatter. So there's no rolling around if you try and sleep on your side for example. Plus it gives you a lot of space to spread out as you can just stick arms and legs on the floor if that makes sense.

I love mine, I think it's a Lidl but might be an Aldi. Enough give to prevent you feeling that one wee stone that's always right under your sleeping area and they keep the ground chill from coming through. I used one of those thin yoga mat things before so it was a significant upgrade. Aldi have them in this week https://www.aldi.co.uk/blue-self-inflating-mat/p/098034286074003

I've bought a 2-man Eurohike tent from Millets today which was down from £100 to £50 in their 50% sale and with an added 20% off with a discount code they have on it came to £43 including postage! Worth a browse at the moment if you need anything camping-wise.

Thanks, going for one of these. I borrowed one in 16 and slept far better than on a blow up mattress. 3 year guarantee too!

We've used one of these before, they're really good. Although it was HORRENDOUS in 2016.

Am I right in saying we won't be allowed to bring one of those on the transfer coach from the drop & collect point?

I did ask a little while ago, but I can't find the answer now... We are looking for a decent trolley for 2 of us to get our stuff in. Anyone got any they would suggest?

this is a beast of a trolley. Quite heavy but I’ve used mine twice now at GM and EOTR; works a treat.
